Heltah Skeltah-Nocturnal:Classic Boot Camp Click Shit!
24-7 Spyz-Temporarily Disconnected
Finally got it, dope and more varied than I expected. The clerk at BestBuy had to dig to find it for me, props to her. I do feel they have space for even more conceptual experiements in the future. I miss Graph Nobel's voice, again I wonder what's up. Good album nonetheless and glad they released a hard copy to stores in this era.

Idle Warship-Habits of the Heart.....
What? You never heard of Idle Warship? Don't feel bad, had I not read a blink and you'll miss it album review in the lastest issue of Filter I wouldn't have known that they exist either. That's a damn shame because this is actually a good record. Idle Warship is actually Res and Talib Kweli's new collbarative album. Style-wise this album resides in the blurry area where pop, "urban" and rock music kinda merge into one genre. Which means they should be right at home with like 75% of the bands on Afropunk. Kweli loosens up his backpack flow to fit the poppier arrangements and Res sounds more confident but as sultry as ever belting out the huge sing along hooks on this album. Basically if you like either of those artists, songs that remind you of 'Hey Ya", N.E.R.D. or Janelle Monae then you should dig this. It's a shame the promotion on this record sucks so much. It's on Kweli's label which tells me that him or his distribution needs to step their game up. Afropunk should get on this ASAP. Spread the word.

The last time they were here I found out about it a day after the fact. Again, promotion people! promotion! aye yi yi, anyways I hope they keep making more music together. This joint was good but I think like you said, they could go even further the next time around.

Permalink Reply by Jordana LeSesne on February 15, 2012 at 1:56pm Currently listening to Lacuna Coil's new album Dark Adrenaline which my boyfriend gave me for Valentine's Day as part of their Dark Adrenaline boxed set. I count Lacuna Coil as a major influence on my own band, Metamorphia's sound. Dark Adrenaline marks a return of Lacuna Coil back to their darker goth metal sound after they ventured into more commercial sounding hard rock on their prior release Shallow Life.
