Ha, their just mad because of his open-mindedness & good taste. Also probably because of his rumoured "blessings"; George Clooney at a recent award show (SAGs?) jokingly complimented him, saying Fassbender "could play golf with no hands".
(edit) It was the Gloden Globes:

off topic: a parallel can be drawn w/ the racist assholes on tumblr and their reaction to Michael Fassbender (young magneto)'s preference in dating (black and brown women).

.
Jane Eyre - i liked it a little better seeing it on dvd. not the best-ever jane eyre, but i like how it does smack of jane campion... existential, emphasis on the casual despite being a hyper-"realistic" period piece.
.
Junebug - didn't know a thing about this film, just checked it out from the library due to the name of the film. it's amazing how rare movies that depict southern/hillbilly/hick-types of white people seriously are in general. they're lacking just as much from film as complex, fully formed black characters and stories. i also really liked the director's style... lots of empty, quiet, or static shots with subtle music cues. also, the outsider art reference in the film is kind of funny and i'm not sure if they are making fun of it or being sincere--because the "art work" is so...hilariously fucked up.

Finally,
i would post the gif of his swinging peen from the movie Shame, but i won't. :X

= EVERYDAY SUNSHINE --- Man this had me smiling & rocking from jump. Great documentary on the history and importance of Fishbone. The Fat Albert-styled animation showing their youth was excellent in capturing the soul of their personalities and the insight into their lives from Angelo's family and Norwood's surfing made this essential viewing. Performances of course were off the chain as well as commentary from Flea, Gwen Stefani, Perry Farrell, Les Claypool, Ice-T and mad others.
= BRIDESMAIDS --- Funnier and had more heart than the Hangover. Kristen Wiig is a standout talent as writer and comendienne. Maya Rudolph showed her dramtic emotional and comedic breadth in this one. Better timing and more clever ideas for this comedic final fling movie.
= DRIVE --- As most who've seen in have said here before, this a pretty good crime drama with more artistic flourishes. I was surprised at how much this referenced 80's Micheal Mann-stylized film techniques, almost looked like a sequel to his 1980 crime noir Thief. Whole cast did good and Ryan Gosling held it down as the 'mysterious stranger' but with an easy smile when amused. The electro-based soundtrack adds on even more the Reagan-era sleazy cool feel.
Permalink Reply by PolarVibez on April 7, 2012 at 4:58pm ^^^Funny you posted about Drive. I picked it up from Target last night. It was a pretty good flick. Ryan Gossling did an excellet job pulling off the quiet menace act.The pace of the movie was very measured but it rarely dragged. It definately draws you in because you don't know what kind of madness is about to pop off in the midst of the calm. Albert Brook's character was good too. He's a likeable bad guy but nontheless dangerous as shit. The film had all kinds of interesting parodoxes. And the score was dope too.
Permalink Reply by Powter Whyte on April 11, 2012 at 3:00pm Intimacy- English flick about this bar manager who's life is basically crap after just walking out on his wife and two son's without a word. He has this ongoing Wednesday afternoon affair with a woman who's name he doesn't know because they never ask each other anything. She just shows up, they get wet and she leaves. He eventually gets curious and it all goes down hill from there. Pretty well done flick. It does a good job of illustrating how shitty this guys life is and the desperation he himself seems oblivious to. Measured pace but interesting none the less.

Permalink Reply by Powter Whyte on May 6, 2012 at 1:11pm Since I'm stuck at home on LOA I've been watching a LOT of flicks. Yesterday it was my classic horror remake day.
Bram Stokers's Dracula: It's funny watching it as many times as I have still finding more and more editing mistakes in the flick. My all time fave is during the intro of Lucy's suitors the Dr. hands the Texan his smashed hat after the two previous scenes showing him holding his hat while the Dr. was sitting. How that got through is beyond me. Still great though.
Mary Shelley's Frankenstein: Kenneth Branagh is a very ambitious director but he never seems to be able to live up to those ambitions. His films always seem rushed to me. De Niro was good as usual and the movie was good over all but it just didn't strike the same chord as Dracula did despite all it's mistakes.
The Wolfman: Not an overly good film. Well done but Hopkins phoned it in and Del Toro was a HORRIBLE choice for the main. He's a great actor but English people of that time aren't supposed to either look or SOUND Hispanic! LOL!! Hugo Weaving stole the show however. He's one hell of an underrated actor IMO.

Permalink Reply by LesYpersound on May 12, 2012 at 5:28pm having a mini jean-hugues anglade sexytime movie marathon...yes pls to more of this french panty-soaker:
l'homme blesse - one of his first films, he plays a conflicted young gay boy who falls for an italian hustler while on vacation(?). extraordinarily sexy film but things end really badly... great great great!
betty blue - it's maintaining it's position at the top of my favorite 1980s francophone movies... lol, a very specific category--but still actually quite crowded with some of my favorite movies in general (e.g. the same director of betty blue did diva and both of them are probably towards the top of my personal favorite french-language movies of all time). beatrice dalle and anglade have insanely great chemistry and both of them are perfectly cast. l'amout fou indeed... they fucked everynight and were deeply in love too bad she was completely bat shit crazy/bipolar.
killing zoe - produced after true romance by the same folks (so that'd include tarantino) and writer-director roger avary--this film has avary and tarantino's fingerprints all over it and somehow i still love this film despite it being somewhat formulaic--i think it's the homoeroticism by way of a gay thirdwheel in the romance of stoltz and delpy's characters.... this gay thirdwheel = a psychotically jealous, drug addled bank heist gang leader played by Anglade. I LOVE Anglade in this film.... it's a really great performance imo.
.
more movies lined up, i just need to track them down online or in person...
= MARVEL'S THE AVENGERS --- Anybody see or discussing it yet? No spoilers but it was cool. Did a decent job balancing all the superheros in one film. Downey as Ironman was definitely the star and deserved so, his quips & bravado as Tony Stark kept the humor and pace going. Samuel L. Jackson did good as Nick Fury but nothing really standout on some Mace Windu tip. The surprise breakout for me was Scarlett Johanson as Black Widow, she kicked some serious ass in this one (and has a nice one to boot, damn I didn't know she had it like that). The best parts were actually much of the dialogue when they all were in a room.
I messed not seeing RESTLESS CITY in the cinema, it looks incredible. But man could AFFRM bring their screenings to a theatre actually in Philly so I don't have drive all the way to NJ and pay toll to support an indie Black film? Gas is high enough...
Permalink Reply by LesYpersound on May 18, 2012 at 2:37pm avengers -- fluff, really predictable, but executed without bullshit. joss whedon really loves his odd camera angles tho--it was really noticeable. ruffalo did a good job as hulk.
and now thor--because loki was funny enough and i want to know why thor's hammer doesn't work on cap's shield. that made no sense... lol@all the ppl of color on asgard tho, but i'm not complaining about tadanobu asano and idris elba in this movie...
Bro is no joke; high-ranking belts in 7 disciplines, damn. And to add on for the Marvel tip, Jai White is the ONLY choice for Luke Cage Powerman, get it right Hollywood.

Permalink Reply by coollikethat on May 31, 2012 at 12:43am Haven't actually seen this movie---in fact, it dosen't seem to have been released here in the States at all yet, but it's a brand new version of WUTHERING HEIGHTS--this time, though, the director (Andrea Arnold of FISH TANK fame) actually cast a brother for the role of Heathcliff---that raised a hell of a lot of eyebrows, and of course apparently disturbed a lot of white folks who couldn't bear seeing a black person in the role:
