Permalink Reply by Mika Kenyah on February 9, 2012 at 11:53am Hello AP! I am all about the metal and rock...then I met a hip hop artist who was a little outside the box....he let me write/direct his music video that I would love to share with you guys. I would appreciate the support...please watch. We need more female directors in Hollywood and more hip hop that doesn't follow a formula!

Permalink Reply by UpanComer on February 10, 2012 at 10:44pm Don't see what's so "Out of the box" about him but it was a dope video concept so I'm puttin it up on sites I visit.
Could use more hits.
Permalink Reply by Mika Kenyah on February 11, 2012 at 1:50pm I appreciate your feedback...I am getting back into my writing...I am a playwright and poet so this was my first music video. As far as the artist...we live in NYC and he is a lot different then a lot of the rappers out here...who primarily are into being street/hood...I appreciate the fact he is willing to make music that is on other subjects outside of being a thug. He has a mixtape coming out feb 15th, that I will post info about and you can always check his pg facebook.com/banditbm....Thx again for the support!

Permalink Reply by UpanComer on February 12, 2012 at 12:08am Well you did say you were mainly a metal and rock fan so I can't blame you for not knowing much about Rap like that.
His style really reminds me of the Horrorcore artists I've heard.
Either way he's dope.
Oh yeah and I was wondering you guys have no issue with us putting different artists in this thread right ?
Wasn't sure if I could post youtube links to music.
Permalink Reply by PolarVibez on February 12, 2012 at 12:32pm I'm bangin Jay Electronica's What The Fuck is a Jay Electronica right now. Dude is NICE. BTW....
What the fuck happened to Jay Electronica? DUDE WAS NICE! Anybody know what's going on with the Roc Nation deal? Somebody help me out here. He was 'posed to be the second coming.
^^^ seriously. Just waiting and rocking my collection of his stuff. He did a cameo on this British artist The Bullitts song with Lucy Liu, decent.
I'm not surprised at them doing it but I am impressed by their techs & style. They have some definite Ken Swift Rock Steady Crew flavors but they do bring some originality. I've seen cats from Poland, Israel, Polynesia and other unexpected place get busy. Big up St. Petersburg!

Permalink Reply by UpanComer on February 13, 2012 at 2:35am Because Break Dancing just like Graff is awesome and it's cool to see it being kept alive.
As far as different dance cultures popping up around Hip Hop that still happens it's just largely shunned.
Whenever a new dance happens it's usually shat upon by those that aren't apart of it.
I mean look at Jerking, Krumping, Hyphy etc.
I see youth of all ages B-Boying (proper term) or "breakdancing" (mainstream misterm). I'm actually surprised this generation is into it at all but it says something about the impact of the art. And these youth have all their own dances they do for themselves; whether it's the Wu-Tang, Souljah Boy or the Hyphy and other ones Upandcomer mentioned. They get love from their own and don't need us, but if they do something cool, B-Boying/Boogeying or not, they get respect from me.
Props goes to those non-Black & Latino youth across the world the globe that are still doing it and I will admit that some are doing better than us here now. It's the same story of when we disgard something, believe somebody else will pick it up. But the truth is the innovations will always come from the original heads.
Check this cool short piece:

And if you don't know, all I can say is B-Boy Junior. Look him up and hold your seats...
Permalink Reply by PolarVibez on February 13, 2012 at 9:25pm Well, beating your feet is really popular here in the DMV. A lot of that kind of dancing seems to go really well with go-go music. And you also can't forget juking in Chicago. there's so many regional dances for different regional music. Like they have their own thing in B-more as well. To me it's all an extension of that b-boy culture. By the way I'm intrigued, how does one do the Wu-tang? That's a dance I would like to learn LOL.
