Peep my new Video Embrace The Day Prod. Prefuse 73

http://youtu.be/eYngsibRTAA

Boston pigs are notorious foul same as in most cities.  The OF clip was cool, glad their getting their $$$ first hand Wu-style. Seems like they put on a show, wonder how the Philly gig went.

A$AP Rocky? ha, a few personal points:

=  Shouts to Harlem always were I have people; whole NYC.  Stylewise they can be so fashionable that's it's outrageous, from pink furs to european sneaks.  I like the Black Label stuff they rock.

=  A$AP hasn't shown me any real lyrical skills yet.

=  A$AP comes off in interviews as one of the most approachable & humble new rapstars to date.

=  A$AP Rocky as a title sounds too close to Aesop Rock.  Seems like a potential court case.

=  A$AP Rocky's birthname is "Rakim" from the lyrical G.O.D. himself, Rakim Allah of Eric B. & Rakim.

=  A$AP makes it clear he's not a "gangsta" but does lace some lyrics clearly drug "hustlin' " references.

=  A$AP seems very laid back, not taking himself too seriously but serious about his success.

He's a walking contradiction in my book.  Which should be interesting for the future in a Kanye-like way; you can't stand him but still gotta hand it to him.

This interview he did with Nardwuar is a classic (most of Nard's are;  who does his research, the CIA? Damn...)

(again give me simple steps to post those Youtube vids with the full screen like above, Fruct, Logun, anyone?  Thanks)

I think Asap is dope what he is, his producer in my opinion is the one that really shines.

His production just insane if you ask me, same thing for Lil B (same guy) Clam Ca$ino is a monster.

And to the guy who posted up that track produced by Prefuse, dope I've been listening to Sole,Prefuse,El-P etc. lately so you get props for that.

That Survival Tactics is my kind of hip hop. OF can eat a dick. I'm glad it ain't all sell drug rap but their shit is alot of "Take drug rap". Those guys ain't shit.

I gave those clowns a chance. There raps don't rhyme most of the time. That's what makes it an art form. I shit on sucker mc's.

come on k once you get pass the immaturity you can actually find that they can rap.

Honestly I can't get with "drug user" rap either but I look past most of it.  OK, Eminem did it so now let's try to go even crazier, whatever.  As Logun said, A$AP jumping on an old destructive habit like "syrup" will do you no good.  When was that shit cool?  After it killed DJ Screw? C'mon man...

I do worry how the youth will respond to songs like "cocaine" by Syd from OF, seen that video?  That's straight negativity done over a nice beat.    Can't co-sign that.

Obrigado my brother, following your directions.

I heard this on someones blog because they had one of those automatic music players and was feeling the flow right away.

Then I came across this and was def feeling it:

I'm probably mad late with KL but either way how ya'll feel?

WORD, I was reading up on him on wiki and he's pretty much with Dr. Dre and that whole Aftermath recordings, he signed to a major/mainstream label (Aftermath/Interscop) so he's not indie anymore, though he was already on an indie record label(Top Dawg) . He's part of the hip hop collective "Black Hippy'' who signed jointly with Interscope/Top Dawg when he did. On wiki it say's he's worked with several mainstream artists already.  So he's pretty big and will be getting bigger now that he's with Dr.Dre/Interscope. I dig his stuff.

I gota say I disagree on 36 being the sole reason a person would commit a crime

I imagine there would be various social and economic factors that would lead to a person committing a crime long before a rap record.

On topic :

IF you like Kendrick Lamar check out the whole black hippy crew.

And yeah I'd say you're mad late on Kendrick lol.

Known about him for two years now after he started making a lot of noise with his mixtapes.

Anyways I'd say get his Overly Dedicated and Kendrick Lamar mixtapes.

If you want to see how just how Gangsta he was before the name change check out his :

Carter 4 and Training Day Mixtapes.

Went by the name K. Dot then.

His album is also FANTASTIC, great listen.

School Boy Q - Dope.

Ab-Soul - Another deep thinker in the group, like Kendrick but different.

And of course

Jay Rock - Another dope rapper, last I checked he was signed to Strange Music.

All of them are representing my state well ! Lol.

If you guys want more Cali rappers I'm happy to drop cats I know of.

Also disagree on OF.

Damn near every body in the crew can rap their @ss off except for Taco and Jasper (I think that's his name....)

Some of them pull dope and interesting rhyme patterns, and of course Left Brain,Tyler,Hodgy, The Internet, Future Jett Age of Tomorrow are all very talented when it comes to composing instrumentals.

Also I gotta say wrong on calling them "Take Drug" rap, kind of funny when their leader is a big advocate of STRAIGHT EDGE.

Listen to their music, you'll find they aren't really just about drugs, murder and skate boarding.

Their topics vary, some of them actually do speak on drugs and drinking, while others like Tyler for example just mentions it.

At first Britcore//HeArt_core antifascist lyrics,...then the pounder against German Narcissism Rap[e] by reasons the copying you have digest already, then my Crew fellow Wu_Trans_Asia outa space narratives, and the the 45 Major blown in the mix....nothing without some scratches....

Well first of all, I never said they were "Saying a lot" even though I think some of the members in the group have actual points to make, Frank Ocean being one of them.

With that said whose to determine whether there music is saying a lot or not ? Their fans are the ones who decide if the music impacts them beyond what a casual listener hears. To a lot of kids, the rebellious "Fvck the world but i don't really mean it" thing is real, to a lot of kids growing up in a single parent home and skate boarding with your close friends all day is REAL. That is "substance" to them, sure he isn't rapping about Corrupt Dictators or starving kids in some foreign country but he isn't obligated too, just like you aren't obligated to like them.

I also think despite what you feel, they take themselves serious as artists. Why go through the trouble of learning to produce music, write your own songs, even crafting whole albums and an image, on top of shooting your own music videos if you're not serious ? I can understand that maybe some of the members premise artistically isn't something to be taken seriously (as in the points they make, the sexism, violence etc.) but outside of that I'd imagine they're as serious as any other artist in any other genre.

I have to laugh at "They aren't saying nothing", it's funny because so many artists in other genre's (not even a rap thing just music in general) aren't saying a damn thing and if they are, they aren't saying anything new. What they're doing is what is expected of them, to deliver great sounding music within the confines of their genre.

So what is it really about ? Is it because they aren't doing anything new ? Is it because you don't like their image ?

Is it because they're wack rappers ? (Doubt it, EARL can see damn near anybody on the mic)

And it's funny you mention Das Racist, those dudes are the epitome of getting over, had to check out Ghandi Mandhi also.

Not saying much, and skillwise....they're forgettable.

Fructose Soda said:

see, I gotta laugh whenever I hear people say that OF's music is saying alot.

Their fans take them more seriously than OF take themselves.      They're not serious.

And, I like silly shit.    I actually like their song "We Got Bitches".   Its funny as hell.

But thats me, I listen to stupid shit like Das Racist, Big Baby Gandhi, Ween, Idiot Flesh, Boredoms.

.

Nobody in OF is saying shit.    Like I stated b4, them boys have clever word-play, but no real substance.   Tyler is the only person that comes close to being "deep" (sometimes).

I take everything OF does with a huge grain of salt.      C'mon, he called his mom a bitch in "Yonkers".    Obviously, he loves his mom to death, (she was at the MTV vma when Tyler won that award).

Both Tyler & Earl come from middle-class backgrounds.     Earl's mom is a highly-respected scholar.

That shock-value shtick is just to contrast their (otherwise) vanilla backgrounds.

There is absolutely nothing to be taken serious about them.

Look @ how they don't even use the swastika symbol anymore.       Their lawyer made them get rid of it.

Oh gawwwd, they suck. Rhymes don't rhyme. Punch lines suck. Those fucks actually think the stuff they say is clever. All they have is swag. No rhythm no talent little cunts, doing stunts. Those shitty little sewer urchins are not witty or deep at all. They're dunces. Those clowns could not win in a battle. Pissy pants, peepee boy rap.
