If you're curious have questions or think you know everything about Hip Hop, let's discuss it. This is open but let's be easy on the " f**k pop / ol' school / new school " 'cause there mad other spots to spit vitriol. Hold me accountable too.

I never forgot about the fabled Primo collabo but I stopped holding my breath for it. That's less likely to happen then Detox coming out. (What's the release date on that joint now anyway? 3012?). Yeah and Primo is not exactly in his prime anymore. Maybe he could unearth some dope archives we ain't heard or get a second wind simply inspired by working with God's Son for a whole project. (Primo:"Brother Nasir! This is a blessed occasion! Finally!, I've savd a special mic booth just for you!")...It's nice to dream. But that's why I suggested somebody new that's still rooted in the "real" hip-hop sound. We've heard him do the pop and the "hot" records with mixed results. We know what he's capable of with a solid 'in the crates"- mindeded producer. It's called Illmatic.

What an epic keyboard faux pas on my part. Cube did say hip hop started in the west in westside slaughterhouse, and it was pretty implausible.

"Roc La Familia" was dope to me actually.  I really didn't dig Jay until that album and later went back to "Hard Knock Life".

= 1-900-Hustler

=  Change The Game (loved that beat by Rik Rok plus Beans & Bleek's parts)

=  Stick to the Script

=  R-O-C (stop) forgot the name but song was hot

I was never a fan of Hov until then and never checked "In My Lifetime" nah ("Sunshine"? please).  When I saw the cover of "Reasonable Doubt" that was exactly what I felt, reasonable doubt the tongue-twisting "Originators" cat who guested with Jaz (-O) and Original Flavor could do a dope album.

And he's wearing the playa shit Biggie wore?  Get the fuck outta here, plus his name is corny, "Jay-Zee"  hahaahaa.  Well he got the last laugh because he impressed me to Black Album and appearnces now.

What has Mike Finito done Fruct?  And MadLib is one of my favs all day but with Nas? Hmmm...won't say no but interesting thought...

And PV I'll forgive you for blashpheming H.I.P.., His Imperial Premier.  You know I'm religious when it comes to that shit.  I'll run into a J-Dilla temple with C-4 strapped to my chest screaming "Primo U Akbar!" before I press the button.

LOL At "Primo U Akbar!" but let's leave Saint Dilla out of this okay. The last thing we need is a conflict in the "Gaza Strip" of hip-hop purist.

Oh aiight, cool.  I went to the Premieragogue Temple of Rocket $cientology A.M.E. and prayed on it & asked, "what would Primo do?" Since it's post-Easter I'll leave the Dilla-set disciples alone.

Just let it be known: I've got an eye on you heathens.

I always figured Gangsta Rap and the set of ideas that came with it were a west coast invention, what with the foundation School D created, Ice-T's influence (and expanding on the idea), and of course NWA, taking that and blowing it up.

This is one the joints that Kanye actually sounds like a good rapper who happens to be a superstar producer rather than a superstar producer who happens to be a rapper. (If that makes any sense)..but yeah  I could definetely see that. As long as Ye' kept it thorough and didn't shoot for those WTT ambitions that would pretty much swallow up a rapper like Nas whole it could work. It seems so obvious pairing those two. Ye' "gets" what the Neptunes and Lex Luger's of the world are doing just as much as he has a deep afinity for what the RZA's, Pete Rock's and Primo's of the world have done. He'd be perfect for Nas.

you know what else would be interesting for a Nas album?

Kanye's production.

MBDTF is an okay album.    Just okay.   He's probably the only mainstream producer I'll check for, even if I don't like the whole album.

and I never rode Kanye, especially because his production has gotten weaker,... but imagine if Ye produced an entire Nas album with beats like this:

I personally think MBDTF is fantastic.

A very dope album, and musically it's impressive because it manages to hold my attention

in a genre where few people dare to go over five minutes in song length.

Different opinions, most likely a taste thing.

I think it's his best album since Late Registration.

I like simple, stripped down production but I also like that BIG "Stadium Status" approach too.

I think Ye really hit the nail on the head with that last album, from the themes he hit through out the album, to the crazy cool breakdowns, horns, violins etc.

Really like that sorta stuff.

Kanye's production is certified. His rhymes....not so much. There's not any total package MC's on the radio. There's a severe drought in talent on the radio. Just Blaze is probably my favorite most consistent producer of the last 10 yrs. Joe Budden is hotter than any cat on the radio right now but he can't get his music played.

Greg Nice will teach you how to rhyme.
