GRAFF (graffitti art)

Whether ol' head classicist or newbie rap fan, put it out there.

What you like or don't like, events, music, films, videos, websites, publications, performances, gears, artifacts, etc.

If you're curious have questions or think you know everything about Hip Hop, let's discuss it. This is open but let's be easy on the " f**k pop / ol' school / new school " 'cause there mad other spots to spit vitriol. Hold me accountable too.

It's yours!...

I need headphones in the library to check this stuff...

Yeah CE, as a long time fan of writing/graff, I still don't dig the aimless tags some hit everywhere.  But like in current rap, you have to dig a bit through mess to get to the quality.

MOLOTOV MUSIC:
Saturday June 2nd from 12p.m to 6.pm LOWFI will be shooting a video for Molotov Music. Listen here :http://soundcloud.com/livelowfi/11-molotov-music . Did you feel the song?? If so come on out complimentary drinks will be served along with some promotional LOWFI items. If you remember the days when HIP HOP had a message have some fun with LOWFI. It would also be cool (NOT MANDATORY) if some people could come out in Afrocentric tees, jewelry or garb. We are just trying to put out a visual that represents LOWFI, and is not normally seen in today's mainstream music videos.

MGK is pretty nice at the midwest style speed rap. Couldn't find anything that wasn't riddled with profanity so Youtube him if you don't know. He's signed to Bad Boy. That could mean 2 albums and he's headed for Psychopathic, but on the flip he may tap into that Slim Shady crossover crowd and before you know it the biopic will be at the megaplex.

This should be in unpopular opinions, but the vid above reminds me of it. Rail thin dudes with the whole torso inked? It looks weird. That look works best for dudes like the one I saw barrelling down the street on a ten speed yesterday;  A middle aged cross between Thor and the Schlitz malt liquor bull who probably got them all up north.

Where's Shabba?

^^^No doubt man!, That's our M.O. all day.

Drake is doing big things. Listened to a near 10 minute diatribe about how wack he was from someone who didn't seem to be dissing him in favor of Rakim. Finally got the take care album and it was pretty good. Lots of original styles and nice beats.

Had a discussion earlier this week about of course the best MCs. In terms of styles here's my list

Myka 9

Wise Intelligent

Rakim

Twista

E40

Busta  Rhymes

Saafir

Chip Fu

Big Daddy Kane

Volume 10

Krayzie Bone

Who are your top MCs in terms of content? I would put Tupac, CL Smooth, Ice T, Ice Cube, and Slim Shady on this list. Post yours.
