Whether ol' head classicist or newbie rap fan, put it out there.

What you like or don't like, events, music, films, videos, websites, publications, performances, gears, artifacts, etc.

If you're curious have questions or think you know everything about Hip Hop, let's discuss it. This is open but let's be easy on the " f**k pop / ol' school / new school " 'cause there mad other spots to spit vitriol. Hold me accountable too.

It's yours!...

Yup some folks are going to try to beat traffic after Dougie performs but they won't be alone.

I recall a similar situation in the summer of 1987, first year I came to Atlanta.  The Budwieser Superfest arrived at Fulton County Stadium (now Turner Field) that summer.  The System was cool & did "Don't Distrub This Groove", Natalie Cole was good, Freddie Jackson tore it up with "Tasty Love" and his hits (surprised me) and Cameo blew it up tearing through their classics and closing in front of the hometown crowd with "Word Up", No.#1 hit globally.  Seemed the whole stadium was screaming "W-O-R-D, Up!" with their fingers pointed to the sky.

But who closed the whole concert?  Club Noveau because their "Lean On Me" cover was poppin'.  I, along with 80% of the crowd, was headed for the exits soon after Cameo.  Larry Blackmon & company always had a great show but I believe they purposely ripped extra hard because they knew they deserved to close the event.  And in essence, they did.

Graf from Brazil...

Sniffing around for some SAMCRO reruns on the TV and saw Queen Latifah selling her Queen's Collection of women's wear. There was no sign of "I'm a rapper, but the revenue has dried up". No cheesy rat blues style desperation on her part. I wondered if the totally polite host had ever heard any of the incredible raps QL has laid down over the years. Do your thing, Queen-continued success.

More graf nicked from Flickr. Musk and others...

The detail on the Brazilian pieces is dope and I dig the photos especially the woman with the feathered headdress and white head against the blue sky.

I read that Queen Latifah is supposed to be one of the wealthiest Black female actresses in Hollywood and considering all her Flavor Unit productions with partner Shakim, I believe it.  Makes sense she's moving a line of her own clothing.  My question (which I ironicly may have just answered) is why she chose to not make any statement at all for the Tribe Called Quest Beats, Rhymes & Life documentary when she was so vital to the Native Tongue family and just about everybody else added in along with mad celebs & 'VIP's' for the film & extras.  I guess the schedule didn't fit the "wrath of her madness".

Good graf never ceases to amaze me.

Doesn't 2 chains sound like a rap name old school dudes would use for derision? I can picture Kane, LL ,Slick Rick, Eric B and Rakim jeweled up, kicking it at the LQ in the early evening sipping moet..."Is that broke ass TWOOOO CHAINSSS !?!?!?! Did you come to get my crates? Thank you, brother, for this show of unity!!!!!

Kane snickers, but feels a little bad: "Rick, everyone has to start somewhere. Leave him alone."

"2chains, your homie Kane here has some love for you, and so do I. I brought you something..."

Slick Rick produces a roll of duct tape and more laughter ensues. 2chains storms out dejected, thinking "someday".

^^^ ha funny bro.  Better name than "Titty boy" though.

Wow. That name is worse. It sounds perfect for some MC who has 4 CDs with 16 tracks each, all devoted to lactation.

"I think his first one, when he was independent, was the best one. Yeah, 'Cream of the Crop', that was the raw uncut. I bought that from him straight out the trunk on Century. He was pumped back then. Now that he's signed, he's kind of milking it. "

Sounds far fetched and goofy. Almost like a an ex CO masquerading as a crime boss. Can't let it go.

Thanks to Leisuredude for posting Madlib. I was a little familiar with him from Lootpack, but haven't followed him. Glad to hear he's prolific.

Been listening to a lot of triple six as well as all the people that used to be in the group via youtube. Beats are incredible. Subject matter? Shockingly nihilistic. I just keep wondering what these dudes say when they are sitting around the table at Easter. Especially now that grandma can just pull up your catalog on YT.

Gavlyn...Nice MC, apathetic crowd. It's a long way to the top.

yea i heard that ludacris gave him that name when they were young his mom was like that lady who feed the neighborhood and she didnt stop breast feeding him since he was like 4 so yea i see y he changed his name
