So, he's going off to college!

My boyfriend is going off to college....in DC, we live in Jersey! I go to college next year and I don't want to do the whole, go to his college or a college in his area just because he goes to college there. He wanted to go to college in Jersey, but I didn't want him to go to college here because I want him to go and have a real college experience. I don't want to break up with him, AT ALL. But i know how college is and even though I don't distrust him I don't want to be a hinderance nor do I want to spend time worrying or for him to worry about me. What do you all think?

If he's loyal, don't worry. But, stay in contact! Keep the lines of communication open. Stay a fixture in his life.

You seem to have a reasonable attitude about this which is a big plus. This has gone on for all time and will continue and the common story conclusion is the same.
Just be realistic which each other and know that you each will constantly evolve over the next few years, apart or together.

Thanx to you all......I think that was kind of my plan all along but I was just wondering. I definitely am going to keep in contact and I pray it all works out.
QUESTION: Have any of you gone through this or something similar?

I would say stay in touch, but don't stay together. If it is meant to be, then after College, you will be.

Hm. Once one person goes off to college, those relationships last until about October, then you hear your neighbor crying every morning because she's made friends and the boyfriend back him is all controlling and wants her to talk to him all the time and shit.
Okay maybe not, but it's not a good idea to take that into college. It's a whole new stage of life! You should definitely remain friends, but most likely you'll end up breaking it off anyway, and you'd rather it be on good terms than bad ones.

I my opinion I don't think that long distant relationships work. Not tryin to discourage you or anything because it sounds like you have a strong relationship so hopefully everthing will work out. Things may work out for the best or worst. Just keep in contact wit him...=)aw that's enough of my pessismism for today.
