!!! AGAINST THE GRAIN: POST YOUR UNPOPULAR OPINIONS !!!

It's BACK!

An all time great thread from the AP 1.0 foundation.

Massive props goes to the originator Onomatrix who brought us this powerful forum, inspired by by a forum on Playahata.com (if I'm correct). Ono, get on here and set it off with your unique perspective.

Objective: express the opinions that would normally get your run out of town if vocalized or presented. Example:

= Obama is not the best candidate but he's all we've got

= Black folks are our own worst enemy

= Women are too emotional

= Men are too emotionless

= Censorship is a good idea

= All women with perms hate their natural selves

= All men with dreads date white women

= Folks under 30 don't know anything about good music

= Chocolate owns vanilla

= J-Dilla couldn't touch Premeir, Large Pro, Pete Rock or Dre

...and so on (disclaimer: all the above examples do NOT represent my personal views, one or two maybe...).

This is not a place for full on debate & violent conflict, but please be free in how you express. And keep the page long flame-wars to private messages and off the boards.

Ready? Let's go!

Drake isn't a bad rapper, he's just boring

Going back an listening to Kanye's albums, his genius doesn't seem all there, now I get what his haters were saying. But still good music.

People just need to fess up, Lady Gaga blows many pop stars of the past 10 years out of the water, Christina can't find a style, and Britney might as well give up

Gay men are funny(generalizing) they can tell constant streams of funny jokes, only homophobe don't laugh because they feel as if they're gay if they laugh

All police aren't bad, during the blizzard one of them got stuck in the street of my block while I was shoveling my dad's car out, and he was a regular dude, young black guy with a mouth like a sailor, he said "Oh so yall not going to help me then?"
He proceeds to help me and my cousin dig his and my dad's car out, and he said "Don't ever say I didn't doing anything for yall" I guess he was alluding to the fact that black people seem to not trust the cops. as I still don't. Despite meeting a few nice cops.

And American cars are shitty, and boring, I lol'd last year when GM tried to sell off cars like Camero's as family vehicles. Drop Billy off to school, pay $1100 for gas, on the ride to work another $1100 for gas in the same day. Nice try GM.

Motor companies did studies and found out that the buyers of their SUVs are not onfident in their selves or driving skill, they need to have some sort of power, and are usually self centered, and mean to others. Lmao. That's what they think about the buyers of their SUV's. Most people I see driving Hummer, Expeditions, and other big trucks are either fat, short, ugly, or all three combined.

-He needs to get back to "Comeback Season" era, leave that Young Money flow behind!

-I never considered Kanye a genuis, but like you said, good music just the same. (It's even the name of his label!)

-I actually liked Christina's "Dirrty" phase. But yeah, she is a bit too pschyzso. Gaga just decided she was gonna be weird from jump!

-If the gay's jokes are funny, I'm laughin'!

-Yeah, but you also got the ones who pull their piece when they get caught in the middle of a playful snowfight! LOL!

-That's why I'm all about the fine German engineering! I love my Jetta just a little bit more than the law will allow! YEEEEEE-HAAAAAA!!!
Lol, I like all of this.
And fuck yeah! I'm glad I'm not the only one who liked Dirty era Christina. Christina would out sing Britney any day, anyway.
(Waves flag with Paul Mooney's face on it)

Good morning to you!

And yeah Mooney's a hack who set off the careers of Richard Pryor, Robin Williams, Sandra Berndhart, Dave Chapelle, The In Living Color cast, Eddie Murphy, Chris Rock, etc. and a hundred comics Silverman will never be as funny as in her or your wildest fantasies.

Viva Afrocentric Nutjobs!

Gaga does blow everyone else up. Because she brought the theater element back to rock n roll. Like back when there was Ziggy or Elton or even Freddy Mercury. The industry has gotten to automatic. Gaga is fearless, and that is what rock should be all about. Not getting people to like you and doing anything to get bubbleheadded gossip girl fan approval.

For women black, white, etc., that's not how it works in film and literature unless it's a cheesy, tired, IQ insulting "chick flick". The Jackie Gleason syndrome extends to film(movies) and literature is designed to provide fantasy for the default perspective: that of the ugly male who is entitled to sexy women. Unpop: Which is another sad reality of the world we live in. Ugly dudes can get hot chicks (personality, wit, charm, intelligence, sense of duty) but there's no love for a less than average woman no matter what she accomplishes. I consider it to be a symptom of the outwardly shallow sexual characteristics of men. And they are allowed to be that way by default while if we do it we get reprimanded.

I don't think people really objected to her fucking on film, I really think people (myself included) objected to WHO it was she was fucking (Blly Bob) because it was sort of icky. Why couldn't it be somebody fine. Mathew McConehey (sp?) Collin Farrell, or somebody, I mean if you're going to screw a white man on film.

R-R-R-R-Randy!!!!
i like thinking about women and feminine ideals in various mythologies... especially the violent, death, destruction, fury, and vengeance aspects of feminine energies that are tempered or paired off with compassion for the helpless and the ability to order chaos, restore justice/balance, and create.

no wonder lesser men who have these mythologies in mind are terrified of women...and desire to (violently) control women and their labor?
Can we go with a more rugged Kali?

Side note: Anyone know if Bollywood has ever done any Clash of the Titans/Jason and the Argonauts style flicks? They would be epic.
I said Ra Ra Ra RAAAAAAAAAAANNNNDY!

I have been looking for the Comedy Central version of Randy. No one has posted it , with the dancing girls and gold jacket. OMG! I was crying!
