!!! AGAINST THE GRAIN: POST YOUR UNPOPULAR OPINIONS !!!

It's BACK!

An all time great thread from the AP 1.0 foundation.

Massive props goes to the originator Onomatrix who brought us this powerful forum, inspired by by a forum on Playahata.com (if I'm correct). Ono, get on here and set it off with your unique perspective.

Objective: express the opinions that would normally get your run out of town if vocalized or presented. Example:

= Obama is not the best candidate but he's all we've got

= Black folks are our own worst enemy

= Women are too emotional

= Men are too emotionless

= Censorship is a good idea

= All women with perms hate their natural selves

= All men with dreads date white women

= Folks under 30 don't know anything about good music

= Chocolate owns vanilla

= J-Dilla couldn't touch Premeir, Large Pro, Pete Rock or Dre

...and so on (disclaimer: all the above examples do NOT represent my personal views, one or two maybe...).

This is not a place for full on debate & violent conflict, but please be free in how you express. And keep the page long flame-wars to private messages and off the boards.

Ready? Let's go!

hmm, maybe earbuds are ragin' because they're easier to store than big headphones?

my unpopular opinion--uhm, i really dislike and mostly don't answer the door if i'm not expecting people. and if i don't have caller id i always screen phone calls.
i think most people are bisexual, even if only a small percentage. Sure you'll have your preference of the two but...... you'd get down in your own town.... you know it. :) (devilish grin)
^^^Welcome back Ms. Jes (Undrstood) ;-)

Word, $300? Dre, Snoop, Lady Of Rage (afropuffs & all) & Da Dogg Pound need to appear in front of me every time I put them on for that much.
And Lesy I agree and as I stated they're cool & convienent. But the sound ain't that great (to me) unless you position or hold them directly in your ear which defeats the purpose. And ain't they no different from the one-ear plastic headphones from the 70's?

Not an entirely unpopular opinion. In fact, it's quite factual.
I will say this though, Beats by Dr. Dre is a stone cold rip-off!

HEY DAOUD!

=  I don't think someone (wife) who comes from an indigenous nationality, race or culture should give their birth name fully to their husband especially if he's european / white.  Example:  a co-worker who's Asian took on the full euro-Jewish last name of her husband and gave up her Asian maiden name.  I think that's corny self-hatred showing off to her parents and family.  Why didn't she do the whole 'slash' thing; "Mia Choi / Stein" as opposed to "Mia Stein* "?  That smacks of trying to be too cute on some "Whoopi Goldberg" tip.

One of my best friends is married to a wonderful woman from Ghana.  She held her Ghanian maiden name like "Miriam Amora / Smith* " as opposed to "Miriam Smith" giving up her ethnic name.  Her husband is cool with that and it makes sense to me.  I would never force my (possibly) euro-derived name on someone who knows where they come from.

And another question my man brought up: do Korean christians have a white Jesus on their church wall?  If so, as he said, they're as screwed up as we are, ha...

*not their real names but pretty cool aliases, hunh? ;>

They have one with very slanty eyes and one that looks straight out of an anime. I shit you not my good man.

I'm not emotionless, if I watch a sad movie I'm not gonna front I'll cry. I'll cry to my friends about how my girl broke my heart or to the girl "YOU BROKE MY HEART!!!! *cries*" I'm a very emotional person. I believe crying is better than anger, because when you're angry you're just holding on to that negativity. When you cry you're releasing it, so when I get angry.. I cry it out.

I use to have dreads and I dated white girls...

Why they gotta hate they're naurals selfs?? Can't they just rock the hair they like? GOSH!!!!..... haha

Hell yea!!!! I love me some chocolate! ya dig :) Maybe it's because I cut my dreads off?? hm lol

Working in hotels for two years in South Florida has made me somewhat prejudice against Bahamians, Jamaicans, Hispanics as a whole, and Black Americans. When I see them pull up in the parking lot, I have this inner flicker of distaste and just prepare myself for the impending crass, and rude behavior that usually follows. I have been yelled at, cursed out and talked about more by  people from these backgrounds so much that I have started to lump them all into one category in my mind.

Experience informs prejudice...a lot of the time. :(
