AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

What do you wear? What's your style? What's your makeup philosophy?

I am makeup challenged; I'm the only girl in my family and my mother was never into that stuff so when I need help (like, desperately) there are a few sites I turn to:

http://www.ethnic-beauty-central.com/

Well, actually that one is all I need most of the time because it tells you everything and has application videos and links to small businesses specializing in ethnic make up. Plus, it's for all of us!

Make up itself:

http://www.crushgroovecosmetics.com/cart.html
Crush Groove has the most diverse colors of any mineral brand I've seen lately and after 2 weeks of wearing their makeup my skin has improved dramatically.

http://www.blacminerals.com/
I'll admit that I only want to try their makeup because the third woman from the left is stunning.

http://www.monave.com/
I want to try this brand because it is $5 cheaper than most mineral lines.

I am super excited to share my good news with all the make up lovers in this thread!
I am a few steps closer to starting my cosmetic and natural hair care line!!! OW! its been a long time coming. long nights in the lab, but i love it so it doesn't really seem like work to me
My target is the AP community because we are really the only ones that are bold enough to wear bright colors and my natural haircare line focuses on the after effects of all the extreme styles we put in our hair, so after all the coloring and gelling, twisting n such ( i know ive had just about every color out there) i developed a line of conditioners that will bring the moisture back.. and a clarifying shampoo that gets the gunk out..
anyway, just wanted to share the good news... actually the news i got today is that all my products have passed the "certified vegan" test.. no animal testing on any of my products ( or the raw materials..believe me,i checked lol)
ill keep yall updated when i get my website finished..i have to find a designer first.. open to suggestions!!
WHoot Whoot!!
Thanks ladies!
Question: putting make up on the rest of your body?? No go?

I'm pretty basic with make up only started wearing foundation two years ago.
Me = mascara, foundation, eyeliner, < on a normal day< eyeshadow once ina blue moon i'll wear lipstick and it's that bright red kind.

I seem to stick with Mac for most of my makeup needs and sometimes Sleek for bright pocket friendly eyeshadows.
I put makeup on my boobies when im wearing a low cut shirt but other than that, i think it will rub off on my clothes

Once someone advised me to do this when i burnt my left boob on a milk jug I thought it was too much for me at the time.
I was thinking more about legs you know summer is upon us and I keep fucking up my shins by walking into things and I guess i could use make up but that would mean i would need to buy a lighter colour just for my legs. is that not "too much" do people do this?

My shins are messed up from getting kicked a lot by small children and getting scratched a lot by a nail in my chair. Also, I sit on my legs even in chairs so it makes the blood settle there and I'm prone to keloids and hyperpigmentation. Idk, I was just going to go sunning one day and even things up.

You burnt your boob on a milk jug??

I was frothing milk in a metal milk jug while speaking to someone and as i was talking I brought it toward me burning the boob cleave area... it's mostly faded now.

My legs are out scars and all! fuck it, it's too damn hot

Ah. That makes sense.
I am getting bored with myself. I stopped wearing makeup for a while and am now trying to do it again. Now I'm lost, I have no idea what looks good anymore. Especially now that my skin's gotten significantly darker this summer. No bueno.
^^I never know what to do in the summer about my foundation. Especially since I don't have a tan right now. My undertone is "orange" and it's so hard to find something to match. CG's "sable" is the closest to flawless I've ever gotten.

After some googling I found this link. http://www.yardedge.net/entrepreneurs/loni-jones-wants-to-be-time-t... If anyone knows of any other black MUAs that use COLOR instead of a palette of browns, golds and bronzes post 'em in this thread.

I made my first make up haul, it's pretty big (for me). It's all Avon because they had a pretty good sale (good enough to please frugal/broke me; "50% off?! Pssh. That's not a sale!") and I wear glasses anyway. I wonder how their pencils match up to NYX. I'm still waiting to do my korean beauty supply NYX haul- I need a new jumbo milk pencil.
Mlle, you can get good prices on lots of Nyx lip pencils, lip gloss, eye pencils, both in the jumbo sizes on Ebay.
Usually lots of 4 or 6 or even 10 or 12. It seems to be the same 3 or 4 vendors on Ebay that sell these.
And I've bought the jumbo eye pencils in the past from Avon, the quality is good compared to NYX but I like the range of colors by Nyx better. Avon generally has overall good quality and prices on all their other cosmetic stuff. They've really come up to modern speed colors and selections in the past 20 years. I like the Mark stuff too sometimes.

The surprised me too. I used to make fun of Avon for being frumpy like Mary Kay but now they have some alright colors but nothing compared to the less conservative lines like NYX. I just don't want to pay for shipping on the NYX stuff but if the shipping is free I'll be looking for it on Ebay.
