AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

What little creds & self-respect Ice Cube had up 'til this point is completely gone. Noone here should even have to ask me why.

Well, Coolio was always a punkass mark to begin with! sounds to me like he go what he deserved.

I think it also is affected by what certain celebrities have done with the money they've made on their earlier success. If they wasn't too good with their money and it's safekeeping, they might be somewhat more desperate for those endorsement deals later. Who knows? I'm always kinda surprised when I hear these celebrities who have later gone broke and bankrupt: when we'd all thought they were living right and expensive because they really could.

And what indeed are the demands on their money as it is? I saw Coolio (remember him?) in some horribly atrocious role from a few years back . The movie was awful the actors were all awful and his part was the awfullest cooniest worst. I do recall reading he's got 10 kids to support, and has been for many years. I don't think I ever put him on no pedestal, but I was surprised on what a horrible role it was in that film. Made me think he really needed the money. No I don't blame him for that either but it was sad for me to see that.
Yeah. Coolio was always a foolio.
Coolio is an easy target; he really went all out when he got a taste of commercial success and ended up in movies like the one Rosenda mentioned. The album he did with the Maad Circle, Aint a Damn Thing Changed, and his first solo album, To Catch a Thief, were pretty dope.

Anyway, we can throw stones at Cube and Coolio, but most of us have to be somewhere tomorrow morning with a pressed shirt, clean shoes, and a "proactive" attitude.
^^^actually it was Egret's...

...'nuff said. "...'cause of my dress code!..." MAAD Circle was the truth & Crazy Toones was on par with Sir Jinx, Pooh & Cold 187 back then.

Do the knowledge:

Honestly, I'd rather work for a living than have to act like a sambo to feed my ten kids.
Just keepin' it real.
I agree with you on making stupid movies. What I'm getting at is that everyone compromises.

Compromise isn't the issue. Ice Cube "compromised" the moment NWA made the commercial decision the make that legendary music video in 1989. But that's an awful looong way from where he is now.

Dark Ulmtd., is you're beef with Durst, Cube or something else? Do you feel Cube sold out doing 'Boyz n the Hood', the 'Friday' series & 'Player's Club'?
Side note: Players Club had the best fight scene ever: where Lisa Raye and that other lady with the blonde weave duke it OUT in the dressing room.

That fight scene was the BEST.

Damn! that's a long list. At this point it's safe to say that Cube is more of an actor/director guy than a rapper....Or... was he always an actor? Think about it, alleged middle class kid playing gangsta..hmm...
