Kifaru: Hope the below information is helpful in your quest. Always willing to help a brother out when asked clearly and correctly.
White Elephant Syndrome:
They are white girls who eat actual food and don't follow the Diet Coke and lettuce diet that many white girls follow.
(Trust me, I've worked in the cosmetics department in a large upscale retail department store, I've seen evidence.)
They have always existed, check out some of those old photographs of Elizabeth Taylor and Audrey Hepburn and Doris Day, the ones wearing their bathing suits and leotards. Bettie Page R.I.P. was a pretty healthy and beautiful well figured woman.
Yes, the media is making it acceptable. But that is only after the extended stereotype of the bootylicious black and latina girls out there has been played to death in video, film, etc etc. It took a whole lot of gorgeous black and latina women to make it acceptable.
I can't answer that really, if the White Elephants will go out of style, as far as mainstream culture.
That is probable, just like hemlines and necklines, they go up and down on a regular basis in popular everyday life.
How will this affect people of color? Well, if the W.E.'s go out of style, then we'll just be on the backburner, a pleasure known only to those who always loved black and latina women anyway, within our own communities. More lovin' for the brothers and paisanos, less for the white dudes, I guess you could say.
Habitats: well, these days the W.E.'s are anywhere that the sisters and latinas are. Seriously. Nightclubs, shopping malls, grocery stores on payday, parking their car at Walmart, with their kids on the bus or subway. Regular ol' white girls who happen to be thick are living regular lives just like the sisters are, Professor Daoud.
My stats, hypotheses, theories, findings: these are all based on everyday experience.
I am a BA in Business Administration from LMU circa 1986, 10 years of retail dept store experience (upscale and lowscale types, trust me when I say you get a total crosssection of population this way), after that 20+ years experience working in office environments (small office 6 years, medium/large office in the arts, 17+ years), general experience of observing men and women all over LA County, and parts of Orange and The Valley, in social settings (nightclubs, concerts, highbrow and lowbrow venues, daily life in malls shops stores, both on bus/subways and streets: total lifetime of 46 years thus far.

I find your data quite interesting. Would you mind presenting your data and conclusions at the bi-monthly Greensboro AAAS (Ass Appreciation Academic Society)? We serve coffee and donuts during breaks and conclude with a buffet featuring many southern delicacies. The hours are from 8am-12:30pm every other Wednesday in room 209 in the Dowdy Building located on the campus of North Carolina A&T University.

Professor Rosenda, I find your information asstounding. And I must assertain that your indepth field study will provide even deeper insight into this asstronomical phenomena. And I take your observations seriously with only a slight humorous accent. I recall turning on Some Like It Hot and seeing what appeared to be a white woman in a tight dress walking from the camera and wondering, who's that with all that nice ass, switching & all? Turned out to be Marilyn Monroe; all this time I had no idea she had 'back'.

idk, representations of round asses have been everywhere. They may not be shaped like what YOU (it's all some man's perceptive when you get down to it, anyway) classify as round but it's not like white women have been walking around with pancake, alien asses. People need to learn to respect the DIFFERENT ways different people are beautiful instead of trying to find similarities with something you already know.
