AFROPUNK

... the other Black experience

So for the last few weeks, I've been thinking a lot about the new person at my job. I've since gotten over the fact that she was hired for a job I could have easily been promoted to (proposal development, I've aided the proposal department so many times, it's not even funny), as the real blame should go to the HR manager, who I've affectionately nicknamed "Some Ol' Bullshit". She knows the new girl personally, and pulled strings to convince the head honch to hire her. But I digress.

Anyway, we have the usual co-worker moments, passing each other in the halls, asking how the other's weekend was, etc. The question is, do I pursue? I've already invited her to lunch once, but she already had plans, the same for when I invited her to happy hour this past Friday. i kinda just want to flat out ask her on a date and cut the bullshit. Mind you, this isn't like like all my other post-break-up experiences. If I get shot down, I still have to see this woman every day we're both working her! Even if it works out briefly then nothing comes of it, I have to see her everyday!

Furthermore, if I'm being totally honest with myself, the part of me that usually wins out when it comes to women, the nice guy, is at odds with the growing part of me that kinda just wants get her in bed one time and be done with her. I know, it's awful, and I honestly don't like thinking that way, at least not in a situation where the girl in question certainly doenst seem like the type to operate on the same wavelength. Perhaps I'm giving her too much credit 'cause she seems so quaint (I swear, some of her wardrobe looks like it's from the 50s). She may be the "freak of the week" type for all I know, but I should be so lucky.

I know it seems like I'm answering my own question here, but I figured I'd see what others thought.

= Postscript: It didn't work out and now she's being weird. The break wasn't bad but it's still uncomfortable. Y'all who said 'no' to workplace dating were right in this case. Spoke on it in LSDR. I do see couples need more space.
Probably is not a good idea at work. If something goes wrong, it could cost you your job.
Can I say again it's probably not a good idea (most of the time). Me and the woman I dated over the summer are only now getting more comfortable around each other. And fortunately the other who dug me apparently got herself a "good church-going man". Great for both of us 'cause that ain't me and I wasn't interested.

U can't meet your honey where U make your Money!

We had a guy who dated one of our customers and it turn into a restraining order which affected his working relationship with business he serviced.  Management was not happy.

WTF!! He must have been acting a fool to be issued with a restraining order.

There have been a fair few romances in our studio. In fact a lot of married couple met each other through/at work.

But some ended badly, one poor girl had to put up with her ex dating a woman who sat next to her and then this woman would constantly show other members of staff photos of them together.

im dating my co-worker..it's been since June :) everything worked out fine!

Well, it's been a moot point for years, and especially now that I've been laid off. Nothing at all to do with me directly, just corporate reshuffling and "eliminating redundancies". When the parent company's never needed a full-time graphic designer before, it stands to reason that they'll eliminate that position from one of the companies they own.
