i got there in the evening and the line to get in was insane. but it was cool to see so many people there to share in the love and spirit of the fest. the dj by the skate park was killin it! the biker with the yellow bad brains shirt was killin it! the ladies at the fest were killin it! i mean seriously, i saw some ladies last night that should be having my baby, baby. regrettably i didn't get a chance to check out the food trucks so my stomach was massaging my spine and i'm still nursing a hunger headache now because i waited too long to eat. won't make that mistake on day 2.
i got to check out das racists and they rocked. they give great energy and you can't help but to rock out and laugh with them. erykah badu had grown ass men singing '"didn't cha know" like they were walking across the desert in the video. priceless. although it took her 9 years to get on stage (the mc said she was still "percolating". i'm 99% sure "percolating" means something that should be legalized in every state and if you've been going to her concerts as long as i have then you know that 99% is pretty accurate), she did the damn thing. some of her arrangements threw me off but e. badu could make farting through a straw sound dope so she's entitled to switch it up.
really cool vendors there. saw some great art work and wares including a t-shirt with president obama tatted up. wish they would sell those shirts on their website (hint hint).
and umm...yeah...that red & blue flashing flying saucer? which turned out to be a video camera? can someone give a warning of some sort when you're about to fly something over the heads of a field full of black and brown (and a few white) people so they don't think it's "the man"attempting to do a mass murder? besides, it's nyc and some people still have ptsd so when you see something you say something. just sayin.
and to the dude & his lady who were trying to squeeze through the crowd to get closer to the stage by saying he was looking for his grandmother knowing damn well his grandmother wouldn't be at a punk festival: you suck. and you smell like ass chips.

Permalink Reply by rockie on August 29, 2012 at 5:18pm you should trademark or copyright that name. maybe that will be a music festival in the future though some would complain it's not "inclusive" or it's "offensive". then they'll show up any way.

I've never been to one of these fest but I don't like what I'm hearing from you_ only four were rock bands? Is AP in danger of being sucked back in to black mainstream bull shit? Goddess Forbid.
