"Inspired" by the recent discussion in "The Vent" thread. If there is/was an anime series that you would consider spending money to own, what would it be?
Bring me your Bebops, Lupins, and other suggestions. And thanks!

Wicked City starts slow and I tell you what!! the action picks up after that. Something I could watch over and over.

Same here.
I have a copy of Wicked City somewhere, but nothing more than that. I couldn't get into that movie for some reason. =(
Permalink Reply by Mr Black on May 25, 2010 at 5:04am I'm working on Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood now. I'm trying to get through the first 15 episodes that are basically an exact repeat of what happened in the first series.

Permalink Reply by Eris on July 13, 2011 at 2:33am If you're a fan of classic 80s anime on the comedy side, I guess the Ranma collection would be worth collecting, especially the manga which actually ran a while longer than the series itself. FLCL is another thing I would grab because of its short run and overall humor. Akira is another thing to grab, especially if you want to remember what made the anime so great before it was butt-fucked by American studios. (I have the original Orion print VHS). I actually enjoyed Death Note even though I know a lot of people who hated it. It was just refreshing to see an anime series on US screens that wasn't about fighting tops or cards and I actually liked the style and music used in the show. Gintama is another funny series that I found through my on demand previews and if you like weird, random anime, this one is for you.
As far as manga is going, my collection is growing slowly even though I am finding new titles; I am a HUGE fan of Yostuba&! (from the makers of Azumanga Daioh) which is the sweetest thing I have ever read. Even for all the huge amounts of tits and ass, I actually have collected the mind-fuck skater series known as Air Gear (I couldn't even explain it if I tried) and I am also a big fan of Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei. I would suggest Hetalia if you're into silly political parodies but seeing as Tokyo Pop is folding, I don't know what to say about the manga series even though Funimation has been releasing the anime (the manga is funnier to me even though there is the original online version and the redrawn version which was done for print)
Most of the series I actually want to collect have never really gotten a decent American release (Dr. Slump, Cased Closed/Detective Conan) and/or extremely hard to find. I do know that a lot of older series are being released soon which means both their manga and anime counterparts will be up for sale again.

Permalink Reply by Siralop D. on June 1, 2013 at 12:44am Every Lupin the Third series. I know Discotek is working on it so I do not want to complain or speak negativity in to it.
I am happy that Funimation that Michiko to Hachin is FINALLY streaming legally and hope to see it on DVD.
Sailor Moon: I never got to acquire the whole series when it was here so now that we have a new version underway, I hope that the first series is available too.
Fushigi Yuugi: This series was so bad that it was good...the dub anyway and this show as a whole reminds you everything there is about 90s anime.
Captain Harlock: I got done watching this two months ago and I really appreciate older series. Long anime series are so rare today and I wish our generation was not complacent with 12 episode completed series.
Tenchi Muyo up to GXP. Anything after that, I do not want anything to do with them.
Gurren Lagann: Gainex did a good job mocking the Mecha genre.
Hellsing: Not the TV series but the OVAs. Its direction is choppy but the graphics are good and its closer to the manga story line.
Peach Girl: I never got to own the manga series but the anime will do.
Princess Jellyfish: I like the manga so the anime is okay too.
Slayers: Don't care if it's long and annoying, I want it. lol
Tokyo Tribe 2: The manga did not last long here and I hope both it and the anime have a revival.
Black Jack: Black Jack the OVAs not the TV series. I need to read the manga because I got bored of the TV show. The OVAs are exciting and out there while the TV series is tamed.
Parasite Dolls: I always get sucked in to these OVAs for some reason.
My Melody: It's cute, it's easy for those who are studying japanese language and it's Sanrio.
Dirty Pair: It's serious and funny and a mess. :)
