AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

This is one of my favorite books. Don't know why I didn't put it in my profile. I guess I forgot. Anyways, has anyone ever read this book? Your thoughts?

I read one of Goines' books. It might have been that one. There were parts that made me laugh, but on the whole it was pretty sad. How do you feel once you are finished with one of those books?
Yes I read that an a few other of Donald Goines books from Holloway House, probably sometime in the late 80s early 90's.

I never knew about those books when I was a kid (probably my folks didnt want me to read them .... yet!).

Dopefiend and Black Gangster are both really good too. Just like CE said, I had conflicting intense feelings about his books and the stories. Sad yes and some of it made me laugh and horrified at the same time. I got all wrapped up in the stories, really.
