Any luck in finding a ride? I'm in the same situation. I live in Maryland, but wanted to take a tour bus up to NY. the bad thing is, I don't know anything about NY and how to get from point A to point B. I really wanted to see Bad Brains and 24/7 Spyz.
hey mike, you should connect with kodachi on the afro punks from baltimore group page.she's trying to get a group together for a bus trip up there. i'l probably be coming separately from bmore but i can meet up with people. i'm originally from ny so i know my way around.
if u need to connect with someone on hotels, etc for this weekend:

I wish I could go. I'm going to try.
I am going, but only on Sunday.
Thanks for the info!!
Caravaning in a group with someone that knows the lay of the land would be great. I think a caravan of mostly brown folks through virginny might scurr some Hicks though.
Did you end up going to the fest?
I need to make it a plan to go next year for sure.
I might be going to Maryland or more likely, McLean Virginia once a week or so
for work - to work up there where my boss and one coworker are.
I like road trips, but don't want to spend a bunch of money on petrol!
They have a shuttle but I hear the driver is going to crash sometime, the way he drives. Scary.
I went at the last minute w/ my bf. Was awesome! Got there around 7pm sat and saw the bad brains. Left Sunday during mos def. Can't wait 'till next year! Next year I'll definately have a better plan ahead of time

Must have been tough finding parking and getting through traffic? It's 4 hours one way plus a crap load of tolls according to Google Maps. I wanted to just jam and go there, but it was going to be prohibitively expensive. Next year, me too. Gotta go. I wish they had APF Virginia, Midwest, et al, so there were more opportunities to go.

Is your b/f in VA or NY? Is he a musician?

Ugh! The traffic was slow going. I have family in Mt Vernon, ny so I was somewhat familiar w/ the route and braced myself beforehand. He's in Va and wasn't interested in going, but when he saw I was determined to attend even if I had to go alone, he insisted on coming along. He's not a musician.
Well, you know he had to protect your honor from those horny afropunk musicians! lol
I can imagine being horrible. Next time you could, if you could, go a couple of days early and stay with your family before going (maybe on a Friday?) and chill with them again on Sunday for a bit before coming back. I can't imagine being in slow traffic for that long in my gas-guzzler stick shift. It's bad enough on I64 when it's bumper to bumper: riding the clutch in 1st gear for 1/2 hour to and hour between Parham and Boulevard exits.

Still, I want to go if it's around next time.
