"Because, sweety, we're Black...."
It's been on my mind for quite some time to start a discussion like this (if there's one like this already, sorry!), but I constantly wonder who else has gone through a similar situation: being told they can't do or be something because they're Black....by a Black individual/family member/etc!!
Speak out, rant, complain, whatever about your stories on why they said being Black "prevents" us from being who we really are.

Personally, I find it when funny and somewhat sad when we as a people continue to advocate on improving and expanding ourselves yet we still have people within our families and groups who feel the need to group us simply by everyday things, as if all the negative things that are apparently 'black' are right while doing anything that any white person does is wrong.
I'm tired of the whole subject frankly because its thinking like this that keeps us back in the first place. Rather than worrying what Joe White person is doing and how its not black, we should spend much more effort on improvement ect.
But I'm sure something like this has been repeated. I'm far more hurt when we limit ourselves from the inside when its clear that there is nothing there holdings us back but ourselves. There are so many of us who could be doing a lot of things but we continue to brain-wash ourselves into what is black and what is not.
Bleh, I'm too tired from finals to think straight about this but that's the cliff notes version. I could go on all day about this shit because really, we've all been there at one time or another. :|

it's odd how normal every day things are "White" and we shouldn't do them? Like every goddamn thing. And it varies wildly from place to place; I was told that eating mayo was white and black people eat mustard. And that blacks stand over the sink and don't lean when washing their face. Man. that's a powerful spell cast over blacks if even simple shit is up to question.

Putting mayo on sandwiches, listening to metal, wearing vans before The Pack and Mac Dre made it OK. To be fair, I have heard this type of foolishness from every race of people.
Note to all the mayo eaters...go to the health food store and get some sort of mayo alternative. You won't be able to tell the difference and it's better for you.

Honestly, it's stupid and people need to change and get with the gotten as my grandma says.
I didn't start this discussion to bring up negative energy or anything (just to clear that up) but just to vent, especially if it's hard to talk to someone outside of that ignorant circle thats tormenting you in the first place.

I'm just relating my experiences, which were not restricted to Black folks. As I said before, many colors of the rainbow have suddenly turned out to be supposed experts on Blackness.

So conclusively mayo comes from Europe, specifically France and mustard possibly comes from Rome which includes the Mediterranean which includes North Africa and the Middle East (Asia)... which essentially means the mustard is def. less "white".
Same goes for greens, yams, ox tails and goat.
Sweety, its because we're African. Not cause we're black cause. People in Nor Af eat the same shit and many of their complexions come in beautiful copper and olive colors.

welp if i added two cents on my experience i'd be speaking forever.
but umm yesterday i was talking to a jewish kid cuz he saw me reading a rock bio and hes like oh wow WTF? then hes like ohhh his friends were walking down flatbush and heard a black kid playing justin timberlake so they said 'well i expected him to be playing jayz that's weird! isn't that what you all like?' who the HELLLLLLL is 'YOU ALL' ????? i wanted to slap the shit out of him. so it's not only us that have our own stereotypes against eachother it's nonblacks as well.

I think that's just you, asshole. :P Re: Jews owning Hollywood 1)If they own it then why do they have to change their names and often hide orthodoxy? 2)The only reason jewish influence seems numerous is because they've tended to get involved in written trades dating back to the late 1800s (Ellis Island connection) because in Europe they were not allowed to own land or work any kind of law enforcement/governing job. Also, the forebearers of "jewish hollywood" back in the 20s-40s got there because they all come from "immigrant mentality" and all eloped to vaudeville. It's not actually "ownership", it's an execution of social statistics. They are videos on youtube explaining how statistics resulted in a large number of jews in hollywood; you should probably look it up before sounding more like a conspiracy theory racist asshole mindlessly toting the dictation of 'regular" white normalcy without actually realizing what you're saying because you feel the need to strike back at Jews.
