Permalink Reply by Madamoiselle De Sade on July 27, 2009 at 3:45am Thanks guys! We ARE going ahead with the braces, I think....swallowed my pride and asked her dad for half of the start up costs..more on principle than need..he friggin owes more in child support than 3X the total braces. AHHG. .we'll see if he comes through:/ Either way though we're going ahead to straight teeth. :)

Permalink Reply by Madamoiselle De Sade on July 27, 2009 at 10:16pm ... Wound up getting braces in the summer of '94. Had 'em for a year, and then they came off (I was supposed to have them reapplied for another year, but that never came to fruition). Fam made more of a big deal about my teeth than I did -- I'm not even sure that I was aware of my smile. At nine years old, I wasn't concerned about any future hindrances to my social life, although puberty curbed my apathy a bit.
I'd get the band colors changed to match basketball teams, even though I didn't watch basketball. That was fun.
I remember crying my eyes out over a bologna sandwich that I couldn't bite through during the first week, when my gums were screaming. I'd left the red band thing around the meat, but didn't figure that out until I'd left half-imprinted teethmarks all around the sandwich.
Overall, I loved 'em. I felt like the Shredder from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and that was a good feeling.
