Permalink Reply by LesYpersound on December 3, 2010 at 7:12pm I like Classical music, though I probably couldn't tell you the history. Big fan of Bartok, Mahler, Dvorak. Been to some concerts; usually a bit stuffy for me; but then again, I'm there to enjoy the music.

Love them all :)
Permalink Reply by Caliph Gibran Ali on February 20, 2011 at 9:40am yeah i'm a big classical fan too : ) and i would fall into "the following tendency of dark and haunting" as well. bach in my opinion is the greatest classical composer of all time. his french suites are my favorites. but i have a particular fondness for the spanish and russians: DeFalla(his harpsichord concerto is probably my favorite work of music of any genre), and really dig the russians ~ prokofiev, shostakovitch.. and have developed a recent appreciation for villa-lobos. villa-lobos i came about by way of an operatic work of his.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nyl9L9_D3oQ [this is DeFalla's harpsichord concerto/ for some reason they put the first and second movements together. the second movement is the best part in my opinion; it begins at about 3:05 into the piece]

Harpsichord is one of my fave sounding instruments.
I have recording of the late great E Power Biggs playing the music of Scott Joplin on a pedal harpsichord.
He also has a recording he did of some Bach concertos on the pedal harpsichord that I'd like to get someday.
