... the other Black experience

Food for thought- share your "sayings"/lessons you've learned

Add one everyday, or as many as you want.

- Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
- If you threw your problems in a pile and saw everyone else's; you'd grab yours back with da quickness.
- Crying with someone is more healing than crying by yourself.
- I never saw a dog bark and bite at the same time.

There's a thin line between determination and stupidity.

Always look on the bright side of life. In some cases, a flashlight's needed.

Sarcasm is nature's way of gauging someone's sense of humor.

I'd rather be a smart ass than be a dumb ass like you.

They call it getting smart because there's one person making sense in that kind of conversation.

Popularity doesn't make anything bad or good...All American Rejects have proven that.

Racism is for people who lack ambition.

Unless you're a musician, shut the fuck up about music...
"Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does."

On the flip side, if I don't care about myself (in a way take myself seriously as a person) no one else will either.

My most valuable asset is myself.

Music is not the only way to move people and any other medium besides music and art are vastly underrated.
Protect me from what i want (jenny holzer)
Subjectivity is truth (kierkegaard)
One must imagine Sisyphus happy (camus)
Existence over Essence
Death comes sooner than you think

There are worse things than being alone >> there's nothing worse than Too Late - Charles Bukowski

So let us make our life a single day, / And willingly ignore the night to come, / The night already past, / The little while we last. - Ricardo Reis/Fernando Pessoa

"- I never saw a dog bark and bite at the same time. " i haven't seen it, but a "redirect" is exactly this--dog is barking and it's head accidently hits something like your leg and the dog chomps and breaks your skin.
"Never make a permanent decision based on a temporary situation."

Thanks to my friend Joyce Crenshaw, this has saved me and taught me important lessons many, many times.
hmmm,... some really good ones to meditate on.

LOL @ LesY- yeah I suppose a dog is atleast capable of that.
Live life like there is no 2moro
These things come to mind right now:

-You are responsible for own happiness.
-People cannot be changed unless they want to be changed.
-It is what it is.
-Sometimes, you cannot control what happens to you in life but you can control your reaction to the situation.
and then Evaluation as you go through the process and then afterwards regardless of outcome. i like it.
+ Take the time to get to know others before you complain that no one understands you.

+ Don't mistake motion for efficiency.

+ Talk slow but think quick.

+ The aim of life is to live, take a deep breath, and begin.
There's an old saying on this topic "Just because no one understands you, does not make you an artist."
I'm not sure who said it, but there it is....
Peaze
At least a part of )Life is about trying to do what you love *and get paid for it...(Sometimes you'll have to work at a crappy job while you do it. It's hard to find a way to get paid for doing what you love. Sometimes it takes a long time...You might have to work paycheck to paycheck...But eventually it'll pay off, if you set everything in order correctly)
Knowing and not doing is the same as not knowing.
