Greetings people...Lady Paradox here. I'm a Wiccan ethnic goth, a bit extreme I know but hey we can't help who we are?! I'm a fashion major in Detroit, largely into rock, punk, and goth. I signed up hoping to meet like minded people and make a few friends. So let the chatting begin:-)
Permalink Reply by Felicia on August 27, 2011 at 3:31am Hello twin!!! I'm also a Goth and a (backsliding I'll admit) Wiccan. And for years I thought I was the only one. I've read a lot of posts on this site where people have had unspeakable things happen to them. I've been through some serious shit in my day but nothing as bad as the things that I've read about here.
Anyways enough of the sad stuff. Welcome. I hope you like it and if you're up to it maybe we can chat on here some time!

Greeting Kifaru,
What I mean when I say ethnic goth is a non caucasian, most goths I know or have read about feel that to be goth, one most have pale or a fair skin complexion but that is surely not the case. Most identify with the vampire feel of goth and choose to drift towards that genre. Though to be goth is just to enjoy the darker side of things, to be a non conformist and be comfortable with it. There is no written law that says all goths have to be (for lack of a better word) white. We are who we are and are damn proud of it!:-)

What's an ethnic Goth? Is that a non-white Goth? Is that a Goth who identifies with Goth culture so much that it subsumes their their ethnicity? Fill me in. I'd like to know.
Goth who is not a white person.
Welcome Lady! There are some others on here for sure, past and present.

Permalink Reply by Felicia on September 6, 2011 at 9:06pm No dear most goths do not worship the devil, that's just a silly misconception that was spread by media. Also we wear all sorts of clothing. For example I wear jeans and sneakers on most days because goth clothing is really expensive.
Keep in mind that some goths are Satanists but not all of us are. Also you should know that Satanists do not worship the devil. In fact they don't even believe in the devil ( I know that's trippy, right?). Many of the goth people I know come from all kinds of religious backgrounds. I even have a devout Catholic goth friend. It is kinda funny to see someone dressed all "gothy" asking you to attend Mass but it's also quite nice.
The reason people call Lucifer the "lightbearer" or "light-bringer" is because of his "last" name which was Morningstar. And if my previous Catholic teachings serve me correctly he got that name because he was God's highest ranking Angel. (if I'm wrong please correct me)
Being goth and worshiping the devil have nothing to do with each other. Granted they're are some goths that may worship the devil but that isn't a direct correlation. Goth culture is based on liking the darker side of some things but it doesn't mean going to all extremes.
If you want more information about what the goth culture is and isn't you should check out this site to get a better idea.

Sadly I don't have a link to suggest for you to get more information on Satanism but if you're a person who like to read just for the sake of info you might want to go to a bookstore or library and pick up The Satanic Bible by Anton LaVey.
Hope this helps!!

Permalink Reply by Felicia on September 6, 2011 at 11:41pm I'm a hybrid of what they (the goth community) call a perky and a corp goth. I'm a perky goth because I'm not all doom and gloom and I act damn ditzy most of the time. And I'm a corp goth because I work in an office. Mind you this only relates to the fashion part of things. Overall I love most of what the gothic culture has to offer.
So are you an atheist? If so do you mind if I ask you about it?

It kinda did, I really don't give a fuck about the devil or the people who worship him, I think god and the devil are bullshit storys made up by "people in power" if you know what I mean to 'heard the sheep'. But as far as the goth information thanks. And what kind of goth are you? I know your wiccan which means you worship the earth (which everybody should do but instead they choose to kill it) whats the difference between the two?
