Well today is 4th of july an American holiday. I'm still confused about the meaning of it. But anyway I'm bored have nothing planned today. Hopefully someone calles me up to go out and see the fire crackers.
GRRRRL that is so my neighborhood. I been jumping every night for the past two weeks (folks get fireworks happy around here and start early).
But I do really, really enjoy the super illegal fireworks show on the street behind my house. Seriously, I don't have to go to any stadiums at all cause it's right there for a couple hours after it gets dark. And I do mean those BIG SPECTACULAR multi colored fireworks displays. Hee hee. :)
Ayana, I know what you mean. When I was a little kid, it was a just a fun holiday and we tried to remember what the teachers in public school taught us about the original Independence Day, but then you know may family taught me some otherwise things about America and our people in it, so by the time I was a teenager, I wasn't trying to focus on the bad shit my family taught me about how blacks were treated back then, and also about the native americans who got ripped off of their land, I just didn't feel nothing one way or the other by then. I deliberately didn't want to attach any meaning to it because the stuff they taught us in school was rather different than the stuff our family revealed to me about those times early in the U.S. that were painful to hear about.
So now that I'm old, it's just a nice holiday off work and an excuse to hang out with friends and or family and enjoyourselves, however we choose to have fun.

...dunno about you but any warm summer day = m80 day or are those gunshots? :X lol.
i made a joke about fireworks v. gunshots and too bad it came true because 11 ppl died over the weekend and many more injured via gunviolence--and as y'all can imagine here in chicago most of the ppl who were killed or wounded were young and black. :/
When I wrote this 4th of july note. I didn't mean that I donot celebrate 4th of july at all because of the history. I honestly said that because it is an American holiday and I had nothing to do and I wasn't sure whether its the day with the fire crackers or the day when every pop champaign bottles.
(Blackjeff) Okidoki ill be sure to do that than
