Yes, in 2007 in NYC. I absolutely love it1 Awesome. I hope someday I go to more burlesque show. The womyn who performed in it were happy and enjoyed themselves while having fun. I love the costumes. During the show they go-go girls. I love how it is womyn of a different size entertaining the audience. There was also a magic show. So I highly recommend people to go.
Yeah. Think of going to see a bellydancing show but with early 20th century America or rockabilly as the main reference points instead of the middle east.
belly dancing is cultural so don't pervert it.

but vegas showgirls, ii saw with my folks.
i had buddies drag me to a lap dance Tijuana.
i've gone to a Yakuza tattoo event that had a hired stripper...

Yeah... where are all the pretty-boy exploiting dyke women when you need em?

I worked at a burlesque caberet and supper club for a week BEHIND THE BAR!
most of the people came for the shows rather than the bar, it was pretty cool the performers were beautiful and funny i liked the fact they all studied different things like one of the girls trained to be a dancer another was in musical theatre and the one i like the most was an actress, the "clothes" were delicious. they mixed it up with comedy, singing, mini magic shows stolen from la clique lol

nipple tassles.... mesmerising you just can't stop looking.
outfits
music
style
comedy
beautiful women
sometimes live bands usually trios
good times had by all.

the place served food so they had a few policies so that didn't get a face full of minge while eating your soup.
Yep, Tulsa used to have burlesque troupe but they moved to Austin and started touring. Since then, no but I'm really in love with it. One girl was a gymnast and could dance on the ceiling. It was kind of vaudevillian and I think that's what I like.
i love burlesque and had a chance to burlesque dance in atlanta @ door 44...

i like the kind of dancing that you find at 40deuce... its more technical and super sensual, fast paced and kinda thrashy.... after being a dancer for over 20 years i was in a trance watching the girls, lol... but i've also seen more traditional burlesque dancing around vegas... went to the big burlesque competition last year @ the 12th annual viva las vegas... its a little more slow pace, but i appreciate that there's a kind of history to the dancing... i love that bigger girls can do it, and get just as much respect as the smaller girls...

u should look up some performances on youtube... like dita von tese... miss dakota... then some of the originals like bettie page or lily st cyr... there were balloon dances and fan dances...

its such a beautiful art form... i hope u have fun when u go =)
There are a couple of really good documentary films about the old school original dancers back in the day, too.
I've been to one show, and they were opening entertainment several years ago before The Cramps show at the Key Club.
I have seen Dita Von Teese a couple of times: she did her own solo performance several years ago at a couple of the summer Fetish Ball's at the old Variety Arts Center building where it was held most years back through the late 90's.

One time it was held in an old hotel in Hollywood..........Margaret Cho did her own mini burlesque-ish fashion show. So cute!!
I really would like to visit that museum of burlesque place that's at the lady out here that lives in the desert, she is a former star of those early years from the 40's. They did a show on her center a few years ago that was aired on PBS.
Do you usually have to be 21 to go to a burlesque show? Theres this one in NYC The Slipper Room I wanted to go to and theres a couple of others that say that too. Ugh that sucks I thought 18+ made you adult that sucks. Your legal but can't do much bummer
thats funny b/c I was doing a little research on the side but the public libraries in my area only have reference books so I cant take them out. Imma have to plan a bit of a field trip to read the books lolz. So do you remember any of the names of the documentaries? I love Margaret Cho's swag

Wait...did you just say Tulsa?! Holy shit! I used to live there years ago! I miss it too. Sorry, I know this has nothing to do with the topic. I'll shut up now...
