AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

It's been a long time.

My name is Breyana, nicknamed Nana...

I don't even know where to start... seems like every time I get active on Afropunk I get commitment issues and leave it.

Just wanted to say hey, I miss you all, and I'm writing an essay about the Afropunk community <3

Welcome back. "So much has happened, but nothing has changed."

It's more about the community of Afropunks, black punks... or even black people who rebel against black culture stereotypes. The prompt said to write about a community you feel you're a part of, and even though I rated my involvement in this community like 2 out of 5, I felt this one had the most value in identifying who I am and the most to write about

what up, Nana Yeah.

No, you don't know me (I just started posting, after lurking), but family is in the spirit.

Its all love.

Is your essay more about African people into rock music, or the Afropunk website itself?

I remember seeing your username before! Thanks <3

Nana Yeah! "It's more about the community of Afropunks, black punks... or even black people who rebel against black culture stereotypes"  -- that's what interested me in AP immediately.

Compound Egret "So much has happened, but nothing has changed." --- story of my life.  And many others I guess.  Imma use this, it's, like, Zen.

Nana Yeah!!!  I wanna read your essay!! Please share it with us when you complete it.  I REALLY want to read it.  Welcome back.  Compound is SO right.  :)
"Black people who rebel agains Black culture STEREOTYPES."  You are SO right on, AfroCuban.  That is EXACTLY what we all are.  And that brings us together.  ;)
