AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

Punk is dead, and this website is killing it. You all are just a bunch of sellouts with your college degrees, and hipster fashion.Punk is about anarchy, were supposed to be a community that goes against the grain. But instead we sell out to big companies like Toyota. I'd like to acknowledge all the TRUE anarchist, rebellious, free minded individuals out there, that are actually trying to change the world.
I'm disappointed in those that go along with punk because the fashion and music is cool, but are constantly sucking up to authority and money.
Go dance on your paycheck at Starbucks you conformists.

Dude I hear your frustration but I'd suggest getting a couple of years of experience before you lash out at folks for being conformists... I burned my bridges to the mainstream some time ago and listen, ain't shit easy about trying to survive in a society where there are no allowances made for those who eschew the shitstem... how do you pay rent when no one buys your tee shirts, music or whatever you're using your hands and wits to create???? you gonna live on the street? you gonna hustle, steal? Shorty, I'm in my 20's with "old man anger* and although I don't fuck with the mainstream society, I understand that those mu'phuckas with jobs and degrees spend money on shit that we create.. money that punks don't have so we need them. I'd like to be privy to what your plans are and how things progress for you in the next few years....

To be honest I'm completely against the idea of money. Money, is the thing that fabrics this system. So, I don't see how making money is helping any sort of rebellion against it. So think again, at why your angry, and try again. At least you made an attempt, and I give you props for that, but We need to be stronger.

Punk was dead a long time ago. LONG time ago. Don't tell you just realized that now?

Define punk, first and then explain to me how it's dead. I honestly, want to see what you have to say. Give support s to how punk is dead.

So, other than complaining about what other people should be doing, what are you doing that is changing the world?

I mean it's hard to be a revolutionary when you have a curfew, so I'd love to read what you've accomplished. Oh sorry everyone else can't live off mommy & daddy and stick it to "the man" like you are obviously doing.

I can't help the fact that I live with parents who I love, but when I'm 18 I can move out and start an Anarchist community, because that's what I truly believe in. ANd I'm going to follow my heartI don't care that you all conform to the system, I just think it's disgusting that you call yourselves rebels and punks when you really are just sell outs. Your no different than the so called mainstream morons you detest, you really aren't and that's the truth regardless if your hair is blue or blonde your all swim in the same bullshit.
Also, I'm not attacking everyone, but I'm also acknowledging those that didn't sell out. I don't know everyone on here, but I know that this entire website in whole has sold out.
So put yourself in whatever category you want. But once you read this and comment, you've become involved and therefore it was obviously directed towards you.

You'll get over this stage in your life. But it sucks to see another member leave over petty stuff...

You are an idiot, if you stay on this bullshit sight. It's all bittersweet, it's all bittersweet.
Punk used to be an ambiguous, anti-establishment, social movement. Now it's a clothing line, generic power chords and historical relic spoken purely out of nostalgia.
... Something tells me I shouldn't bother with this thread (amusing as it may be), but ... eh. I'm up for humoring you, too. I can only wish I had my degree by now, but regardless I'm sure that I meet some of your criteria for being a bona fide sellout. Ne'ermind the poverty line straddlin' ... lol.

Anyway, call me crazy but when I think of TRUE™ anarchy (as you call it), I don't think "utopia". I think of rape and lawlessness. Lots of rape, lots of lawlessness, lots of dog-eat-dog type of shit. Maybe we've been bred on different fairy tales.
...

It amazes me how someone could feel important enough to show their ass over the 'net before they stop visiting a website. Afropunk is a website, dude. It's not a savior riding to earth on a meteorite; it's not the impetus of an anarchist revolution. It's a website. Just sell/donate your computer if you can't control your compulsions to log on and look down on absolute strangers.

You're not the first to cry "anarchy" and you won't be last. But for the sake of personal grace, stop crying on the internet.

Nuff said, really, but you (Kyler) didn't answer this poster's question: What are your plans for survival?

When I was younger, I noticed that people seem to be less forgiving of such temper tantrums as you age. Besides, I had to keep working because no one was going to feed me out of pity while I figured out how to overthrow the institutions that governed my environment. It's "cute" now, but what about when you're older, your body starts to break down, and you've no reliable means of subsistence? Folks may find it less endearing, and the homeless are not popular people; the toothless war vets outside of my neighborhood gas station would kill for the kind of security you're most likely enjoying under your parents' roof.

Not gonna dance on my paycheck; gonna cash that fucker and eat to live thrive. Good luck, though!

My plan is to follow my heart.I believe in chaos and anarchy, because that it the natural order of this world, believe it or not. It's easy to conform to the system, living off of each paycheck with a roof over your head, and be safe. I wanna tear everything down, and see what happens.

such a shame
GET. THE. FUCK. OUT.
you dramaseeking bitch.
lol. seriously, if you hate money go and live as much of your life w/o depending on anyone or any thing else--like utilities. i really respect folks who actually go this route--quite a few have... y'know raising families in the woods w/ no electricity or running water. living off the grid is a way to go too... but you sound like you'll be a tourist in those "scenes", but who knows, maybe that'll be up your alley.
i just don't understand why YOU'RE STILL HERE and still bitching. get the fuck out already.

also who is we?

I'm not even going to reply to this ignorant shit.

"I'd like to acknowledge all the TRUE anarchist, rebellious, free minded individuals out there, that are actually trying to change the world."

Who are you?

"I'm disappointed in those that go along with punk because the fashion and music is cool, but are constantly sucking up to authority and money."

Again, who the fuck are you? Should I saddened by your disappointment, what?

"Go dance on your paycheck at Starbucks you conformists."

Are you in jr. High or something?

You really wanna be an anarchist punk? Don't just live off the grid or in a squat, move to Somalia. That would be by far the most bad ass thing, ever. Until then you're just someone on the boards who made me think "Holy shit, if Huey Freeman were a real person."

Because idiots like yourself, are creating even more drama that I have to deal with. You misunderstand the term "Anarchist Community". Running away to the woods is not going to save the world, dipshit. The woods are not a stable habitat since they are constantly being cut down and destroyed for more suburban hell holes.
So that has nothing to do with Anarchy,my main point is to try and do something, instead taking my cash, siting on my ass in my apartment and pretending that life sweet, and getting comfortable with that mediocrity. Conforming to it, making it my religion to everyday go out to school or work or whatever.
My main idea behind the whole anarchy is to free people, form the bullshit tit that they suck off of. With anarchy, you have to destroy everything, tear the world apart, and see what happens. Of course it won't happen instantly, and I know It may not even work out, but at least we can try to become active with it, regenerate this idea, bring it back to life, have fucking tenacity for a new world order at the fucking least!!GAWD!

Punk never was actually. If you think about it. It stood for so much, but deteriorated into shit. Mostly, by it's own followers, because they weren't true.
