I don't think any black person is celebrating that. For some, it's a perfect reason to get together. And we are who we are- our ancestors lived in survived in this country so this country is OUR country, too.

But independence day is the hugest contradiction. When the DOI was signed, we were still enslaves! we were only considered 3/5 of a man. remember?!

I think I went on a rant on this awhile back. But like Mille D. Sade said it's a reason to get together and our ancestors lived in and survived in this country. We fuckin' built this country. When I say we, I mean we as a minority. From our ancestors that busted our asses in the field, the Asians who toiled on the rail roads, The Native tribes who were sacrificed and just everyone that got a raw deal. Like Mellencamp said, this is our country.

But still we have every right to celebrate the 4th probably even "more" right to since I know my family has been in this country WAY longer than any descendant of anyone who came from Ellis Island/
