AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

well i only know of one other black girl who likes irish music as much as me.. its been well about to be 2 yrs since i got into irish music esp dropkick murphy's and flogging molly. Someof the murphy;s song i question if its racists about black people or they just mention it i dont know i just listen to the songs i know and love. Anyway like some things a boy got me into it further. I have had a interest in irish music and always heard about the culture but then i met a irish guy and we almost dated or dated i can never tell guys esp white guys are too pussy to tell me flat out. anyway i cant help myself i like irish music as well as rock and rap.. but irish music is on brain right now esp bag pipes.. ugh i think i have gotten too open minded if there is such a thing.. anyway one of my bands is doing a concert in feb 2011 and i want to go but scared of skinheads like at the murphy's shows and the historical tension between us and irish people. (which we were forced against each other) .. i think we use to be together and i know we had similar experiences in america or maybe the irish in ireland remember better then the american ones? they hate us well some idk.. WTF ever.. i like irish music until i cant like it anymore. and i want to go to ireland..

They are pretty awesome.

I'm A Free Born Man Of The USA! that song was on The Wire in the Cop Bar scenes for the passing of a Officer.

As a musician, I try to keep an ear open for everything.

If you can see Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas--they put on a good show they play fiddle and cello respectively.  It's well worth the money esp if you like Celtic music.  Oh and Irish ballads... aw. haha.  It's funny... are you into Irish everything or just the music?  I've had a recent interest in Irish Republicanism/Nationalism--especially the context and events surrounding the most recent bout of The Troubles in Northern Ireland. /coolstorybro

I find both traditional Irish music & contemporary bands that happen to be from Irland to be exceedingly boring.  I don't even care for any ov the Irish Metal bands i've heard. Which apparently, there aren't very many.

irish politics are all over the place but then again not into politics... but yeah so far the culture and music are of interest to me. yeah i will check those bands out thanks.
