AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

This is just for anyone who love Japanese rock and even possibly was inspired to learn Japanese.

I love Japanese anime but never felt the need to learn the language. But after listening to Bump of Chicken, I just wanted to know the words they sang so greatly. I even bought a Japanese language book. I love Jrock, it's it such an amazing genre of music. It is inspiring.

Feel free to comment and list your favorite Japanese bands.

I can relate a little bit.  I did the same thing for Korean music.  I had to learn how to read it so I could read the lyrics.  I only learned a lil bit of the actual language though and just use translation websites for understanding.
I even have a Korean language book as well. I am hooked on Korean Dramas, lol. And I love the music that goes with it.

LOL  I like Korean Dramas and their music too.  I like japanese and taiwanese also, but korean is my favorite I think

(lol) i'm afraid to even get started b/c too many of my friends are straight up addicted to korean dramas...

anyways, my favorite japanese bands (the ones that are still my favorites) sing most of their songs in languages other than japanese w/ thick accents. and i like it that way. :d

it is funny though how, for example, a lot of bands in nyc when cibo matto first hit the scene totally ripped off their accents.

I'm not actively trying to learn Japanese. I am learning it passively by watching movies and anime with subtitles.

Yeah, If you watch enough stuff, and listen to enough music (especially after reading the translation a couple times, just to see the point of the song), you do tend to start picking up on stuff.

Maximum the Hormone

Boom Boom Satellites

I'm looking for Korean rock as well, and it's so hard to find. Dx

Yeah, I know what you mean. I get songs from Kdramas then look for the artists, then go from there. Jang Geun Suk has some really good music, it's blurrs between rock and pop.

I used to loooove Shonen Knife back in the day. And I like the 5678's that I just heard today in a YouTube video.
