AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

There are some kids at my school that are teasing me because I like a boy who is not the same skin tone as me. He is one year older than me and we've been best friends for about three years... and I mean Bonnie and Clyde, dont do anything without each other, attached at the brain, best friends. He went to my school and when we were friends, no one confronted us. He has since graduated. So a couple days ago, he told me that he was in to me and I was like... cool! But I told some kids who I thought I could trust and they told EVERYONE. Now all the black kids( and there are not too many) are calling me a "traitor" and the white kids keeping telling me to "stay with my own kind"! Note that I only have like one friend at my school and people that have not talked to me in my life are now bullying me! Since he graduated last year so he doesnt get the verbal abuse but I still have a few more months to go until I graduate... Is it wrong to love him? Did I break some weird code of conduct ? What would you do if you were in my position? I guess racism is more alive than I thought... and its not just white people anymore!

Until two months ago I've dated nothing but white men. My advice is to not give a fuck, and make it extremely clear. People will make comments and faces and things awkward for the two of you, but if you feel that you and this kid are compatible, have at it. Color means so much and at the same time nothing. Mankind is advancing in so many ways, but laying stagnant in many more; so do whatever you want and let it drive everyone crazy.
Call them racist fucks. I think this is why lots of people in my freshman class bullied me (I originally thought it was because the guy left his girlfriend cause he wanted me instead) ... someone hinted about "trading teams" but I ignored that.

When you endure the petty bullying, and take actions (like file harassment papers with the high school), people know you mean business and will back down, or keep that racist shit to their selves.

God, someone tell these people this is NOT 1952.

Oh, by the way, if the school is being ignorant, too, and not helping you out... I think you should just punch one of those fuckers in the face, get suspended, and when you apply to college, put that in your paper about yourself. They'll love that they're accepting someone who fought for what they believed in.

Just... one good stiff fist to the face.

... I have too much residual school year anger, sorry. lol
Forget those kids! There are no rules saying that you have to date someone of your race or that you shouldn't date someone of your race. You can date whom ever you like.
