AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

Well?

My parents are Nigerian, but I was born in NJ so I'm Nigerian American.
I was just curious to see who the "kid's-of-African-parent's" were on this board. I think I've seen a few...
Any stories about growing up in a different country with jamaican/african/haitian/etc parents?

Spill!

I read this and I laughed and laughed and laughed. This would make a nice t-shirt. Here's my favorite though "Niggers ruin everything!" Hahahahaha!

My mom is Liberian and my dad is Japanese, but I was, for whatever reason, born in Rhode Island. They're both really Americanized, but get hilarious and accent-y around their old friends.
dang too bad i missed the troll's comment!
Smidgetbynature! I knew I recognized those strict rules that you mentioned in the other thread!
(no going out, no boys, no make-up, no black, etc)

thank goodness that troll is out of here, I just skirted around it and hoped others would to! XD
Jay, my mom is Liberian! So maybe we can have cassava leaf rice together someday. My dad is from Sierra Leone, so I'm literally African-American. It's weird growing up with old-fashioned immigrant parents, but I learn more about Africa than I ever would have from American parents. I hope my crazy American ways of not being homophobic and not wanting to have 5 kids get through to them someday .
LMAO! I can tottally identify with that! My mom is a bit more lax, but my father is sadly, very homophobic..I'm trying to help him with that though.

Yep
Those are the Universal rules for most African Kids
I love AP, I keep finding Nigerians who are cooler and opened minded than the ones I know
And surprisingly both my parents are chill about Homosexuals
My Dad doesn't care if I'm gay or straight, as long as I do good in school
Now My Mom just doesn't want me to be a Lesbian but she is cool about it :P
My dad is Nigerian and my mom is American. I was born in America and raised by my mom. I don't really know much about my dad. Essentially I guess that makes me an African African-American.
