After years of thinking about it, I recently founded the People of Color Zine Project.
(I posted about this a while back)
POC Zine Project is a grassroots non-profit organization dedicated to curating a traveling POC zine exhibition, establishing a comprehensive archive and supporting POC zinesters and their fans with events, distribution and publishing grants.
100% of the 25,000 will go towards establishing the archive and implementing zine workshops & events around the world.
You can find instructions on how to vote + more information about the project right here http://bit.ly/bLZwWc
We will be doing outreach/tabling at Sarah Lawrence College on 3/6 and will be organizing a panel for the 2010 Portland Zine Symposium.
I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the site and project.
It's actually pretty awesome how collaborations have unfolded. Our biggest supporter, Convent Collective based in Harlem, discovered my intial post on the AP site. We are now collaborating on a zine program for youth.
What do you think about this project and are you interested in collaborating? Share your thoughts in the comments and message me your contact info if you want to speak offline.
If I'm new to you, you can find more info about me @ danielacapistrano.com
