Definitely enjoy it, but don't listen to it all the time

Yeah my mom is Jamaican so I grew up listening to lots of roots and lovers rock in my house but I also lots of dancehall shit they played at parties n barbeques during the 90s like beenie man etc. I don't like new dancehall it sounds like that ringtone rap bullshit out now.
ringtone shit, lol.
I love reggae. Especially roots and rock steady!
I'm a big fan of reggae. I'm not always listening to it but when I do it feels like a treat. Roots reggae is probably my favorite. I love the organic feeling of it, the way it just sounds like it you're right there in a hot ass tin studio catching a contact and sweating with the band. I love the way the bass sounds and the crispness of the drums. And then most of the lyrics are spiritual so its' like the vocalist are really putting their heart and soul into it. I love dub and all of the genre's that dub has helped spawn (drum-n-bass, dubstep, etc.). I'm a big fan of dancehall as well. Arguably dancehall is the basis of all DJ culture. From hip-hop, to the dj as artist scenario in electronic music. Plus as a once and future emcee myself, I think people sleep on the flows of dancehall artist. I love the way dancehall is constantly mutating but even the old stuff still sounds fresh when you throw it on today. And then when you have people mixing the rasta element with the dancehall sound that's like the best of both worlds.

Off the top this is one of my favorite joints in recent memory. It's concious dancehall or culture music but the riddim has a rock feel to it almost. This joint is hard.

I really like reggae. I don't have a certain group or person. Of course Bob is awesome and Skidred is sweet too. All around awesome genre of music!
this song is huge in brooklyn...and amongst the 'hipster' kids...i heard all the DJ's at coachella played it :)
yeah it does.
it's some white DJ guy that mixes dancehall apparently he is extremely popular.
i heard about him but didnt hear the song til a few months ago. I hear this damn song everywhere!

I don't like this mix at all. It's got Vybz Kartel, but it doesn't even sound like dancehall. Nuh-uh! Sounds like something M.I.A. would do, though.
That would make sense. Diplo and Switch are Major Lazer. They both produce alot of M.I.A.'s tracks. I agree, not 'true" dancehall but I like their album nontheless.

Yeah, they work with santigold and spank rock as well. I guess their all kinda like a "hipster-hop" collective or something.
