Dao, I don't know the newer artists either, unless I hear some song that just jumps out at me when I see that show VTV or hear it on the reggae radio show that's on Saturday or Sunday afternoons on public radio stations.

Jackie Mittoo. Keyboard/organ legend!!!!! Type that name into Pandora radio.com and I just looooove to hear the music.
Apparently he played on everybody's records including his own solo stuff for 30 years almost. REeeally good sound and nice.

There was this great singer Etana I heard recent years that I saw live a couple months ago. GREAT singer and great songs.
Doc, I love the old stuff too the best. From 60's through some of the good stuff in the early 80's too.
Did anyone read that article awhile ago about the rivalry between fans of the artists Vybez Cartel and Movado?
That was very interesting, I didn't know it was so deep ingrained and even spread to the fans living in New York state! Wow!

And that more recent articles noting that some NY festival for reggae had to be re organized at the last minute, because most of the artists scheduled to perform were being denied entry into the United States, because of the political fighting back in Jamaica. Crazy!!
Roots,Dub,Ska,old Dancehall.I Love it! Back in the day Garnett Silk used to stay @ my neighbor whenever he had tour dates in Ny,I smoked a spliff with him before he was killed in 94.I love Steele Pulse,Black Uhuru,Bob of course,Lady Saw,etc.Where in the hell is PATRA?
^^^ I believe she went through some personal trials but is cool now. i think the article I read was in Vibe.
Patra! I remember years ago after she'd taken a break from music, she had a restaurant open somewhere in NY and they had an interview about it on MTV at the time. She was GREAT. She's right up there with Lady Saw. Looove her. While we speaking on the women, I also like Sister Carol, Judy Mowatt, a lot. Garnett Silk, now there is a name I have not heard in awhile. Thta's great that you got to meet him, MC. The most recent artist I've heard a song by awhile back that I looooved his voices was Mr. Vegas, his song "Heads High". Niiiiice.
LOOOOOOOOOOOVE that song, Oba. Classic. What a beautiful voice Pliers has and with the excellent toasting deep of Chaka Demus. Nice.
