RELIGION. What do YOU think?

I recently had this discussion with a good friend of mine who is a devout christian.. i basically asked her how does she know her religion is the right one when there are so many other religions out there that believe in their religion so much that they are wiling to die for it as well.. I myself was raised in a baptist home my whole life so i was raised to believe that the church and paying tithes to the Lord was the most important things a person could do in order to go to "Heaven" but the older i got i realized that actually in God does not need our money at all because he is the creator of all things..why would he NEED our money. hes not poor. actually the People at the "Church" needs money to pay their bills, and instead of going out there to get a real job they feed on peoples fear of going to "hell" by telling them they should pay tithes to go to heaven.. actually it sounds like a form of taxation to me.. something bought over to this country from day one from England. All these so called "Rules" in church never came from God. Just a bunch of dudes who was trying to make extra money to give back to the King of england. Its sad.

I hope i dont sound bitter or anything, cause i really believe in God, there is a higher being as far as im concerned.. so im not on here saying im Emo atheist to look cool or some other ish..if you are thats your opinion and your right to think what you want.. all im saying is I just dont agree or care to follow any religion.. i think they are all way too Fucked to follow. What do you guys think AP?

Christianity to me is a very cruel religion. The bible almost never mentions it specificly, but think about all the innocent children that god has personally killed with fire or water and things like that. And its one thing to die for your religion, but are you willing to kill for religion like so many did during the Spanish inquisition

Dude you need to read the bible more. The bible speaks alot about violence very clearly and plainly. There's plenty of violence in the bible.

@AMNATA Well I Guess you are right.. im talking about christianity but the same holds true for every religion.. CORRUPT... like muslims believe they will get to allah by Killing themselves in front of thousands of people.. thats not right. What God wants you to end your own life? thats the most messed up thing you could do if you ask me. Trust me we are not just talking about christians here.. if you guys have any input on other religions please let me know.. i could be wrong for thinking that every religion is corrupt.. maybe im wrong. I can only speak on the one i really know well though.. so any of you know anything else please inform me. and please guys only answers that are informative. Like heres one example..

Jesus never paid one cent to any church. jesus never even attended a church.. if he did why would that NOT be in the bible.. and if it originally WAS in the bible it makes the Christian Organization that much more corrupt in my eyes"

As i said before im only talking about what i know about.. if anybody else knows something about another religion whether that be good or bad.. please put it out there. This thread is for us to become aware of what is out there. lets really dig in here people.

Religion has it's purpose. See those people who were once in prison and at the mercy of a substance.

It's the wrong people who take a hold of these religous text, that give it the name it has now.

you don't have to go to church in order to be a christian. They're are plenty of them whi simply pray/worship at home.

People have corrupted religon to benefit themsevles. If you left all these religous text in a concrete safe, guranteed they're still be genocide,mass murder,rape,incest etc. Why? As long as you have HATE and ignorance, the deaths and mental state of innocents will always be at risk from those who wish to commit evil in this world.

I agree random brother.. Evil will be regardless.. but still... why hide some things from the people? Humans hid it from each other for their own personal gains, by that i mean the Kings and government of that time when the religion was really formed.. God didnt do that.. most Christians argue that God is in control of all.. TRUE he is BUT, he gave us freewill.. and we have took that freewill and abused it. I would love hear from another religion as well.. I dont want people to think this is about just CHRISTIANS.

Well religion is a big word. Doing such conceptual heavy lifting you have to think to yourself: what does it truly mean?

Usually when one says "religion", the word is addressing a systematic belief of how humanity relates to the earth. It addresses the notion of the spirit.

Now, the middle eastern approach -- the only one you're talking about -- has been integrated into governments and states and has become this kind of political monolith. I'd agree that there's a lot of corruption there. dozens of kings, queens, politicians and leaders bribe their way into heaven via donations. But no all religions function this way and if you are spiritual you can work around the politicians of religion.

I feel religion can be adapted and popular religion is often corrupted by corrupt people and theology. So far, we humans have had crappy religious leaders. We have to further individualize our spiritual systems and create more ways of finding divinity in the mundane so as not to be puppeted by jihadists, pedophiles, fascists and power-mongers holding crescents, crucifixes, stars and wheels.

The most peaceful religions -- which do exist -- are usually quite individualized. You should try reading The Unfettered Mind by Takuan Soho. Its about Japanese Buddhist Zen and how Enlightenment can be found without the politics. Additionally look into The Tao Te Ching by Lao Tsu. Its the central text of Daoism. Its a religion that very much functions as administered by the individual and not the politicians.

People have to value the world around them in all detail and look for the broader, more unifying definition of things than only functioning from the narrow ones. We are our own saviour. Thats the only message. We need no fucking intercessors besides ancestral knowledge and Mother Nature.

im a christian too but i dont really follow the church, church has always been about politics to me. People didnt come to worship God, they came tobe called deacon or elder something, they fought over who tithed the most, the women lusted after the pastor, it was just a hot mess.Being that the church i went to was one of the biggest southern megachurches, the whole politics fight was on another level. All most people really cared about was trying to become closely associate with the bishop. they worshipped him, not God. Since then i believe that the only angle to christianity is to worship God and do the right thing we don't need a book or a man with a suit and a liscense to tell us that stealing is bad. its common sense. So i am no longer intrested in the church, but i always love God.

Personally, I find the best way of being a good anything is by being a little bit of something else. The only way know what a thing is is by knowing what its not. Try out a mosque, synagogue, temple, etc. and come back to your first faith. Trust me, it will wait right where it is for you.
