RELIGION. What do YOU think?
I recently had this discussion with a good friend of mine who is a devout christian.. i basically asked her how does she know her religion is the right one when there are so many other religions out there that believe in their religion so much that they are wiling to die for it as well.. I myself was raised in a baptist home my whole life so i was raised to believe that the church and paying tithes to the Lord was the most important things a person could do in order to go to "Heaven" but the older i got i realized that actually in God does not need our money at all because he is the creator of all things..why would he NEED our money. hes not poor. actually the People at the "Church" needs money to pay their bills, and instead of going out there to get a real job they feed on peoples fear of going to "hell" by telling them they should pay tithes to go to heaven.. actually it sounds like a form of taxation to me.. something bought over to this country from day one from England. All these so called "Rules" in church never came from God. Just a bunch of dudes who was trying to make extra money to give back to the King of england. Its sad.
I hope i dont sound bitter or anything, cause i really believe in God, there is a higher being as far as im concerned.. so im not on here saying im Emo atheist to look cool or some other ish..if you are thats your opinion and your right to think what you want.. all im saying is I just dont agree or care to follow any religion.. i think they are all way too Fucked to follow. What do you guys think AP?

i THINK religion is for a number of reasons including these two:
1. to enforce 'discipline'
2. to enstill fear
i believe there is a higher force but i don't know what it is and i choose not to name it nor figure out pieces to the puzzle as to where we will end up when we pass. i just live my life that's all. i consider myself spiritual but def not religious.

Depending on how it's used, it can be either good or bad. Some people use it as a con to get what they want, do what they want and others simply got off the deep end with. On the positive side, I've seen a lotta knuckleheads get they're shit together after "divine intervention."
(Keep in mind, I'm talking about religion/spiritualism as whole, not just Christianity)

I think the biggest gift God/Goddess/Whatever you name the High Power, gives to humans is life.
After whomever raises you from babyhood to your teens/adult years, you are on your own and responsible for your life, good or bad. I think all religions (the big well known ones and the obscure ones) are human beings differen ways to recognize that big Power. No one religions is better or more valid than the other, you just choose the one that speaks more to you personally and that you like and agree with, or the one you were raised in and you did not choose some other different one once you reached adulthood.
There is no such thing as being "chosen". If you ALIVE and LIVING, you were born and that's enough of a blessing and the rest is up to you to run with it and do what you will and make the best for yourself and reach your goals and enjoy living and hopefully learn important shit along the way. The most evil thing on earth and the most cruel fucked up thing on earth is for human beings to use their religion/doctrine/name of their Power/God/Goddess/etc as an EXCUSE to kill hurt rape maim threaten harrass other human beings on earth.

Since this thread is simply titled "Religion", does that mean ALL religions are up for discussion & picking apart? Or is Judism off the table? B/c i can go around the block all day about christendom, but i feel like we, WE ought to be paying closer scrutiny to Judeo-christianity's close ally too.

People didnt come to worship God, they came tobe called deacon or elder something, they fought over who tithed the most, the women lusted after the pastor, it was just a hot mess.Being that the church i went to was one of the biggest southern megachurches, the whole politics fight was on another level. All most people really cared about was trying to become closely associate with the bishop. they worshipped him, not God. Since then i believe that the only angle to christianity is to worship God and do the right thing we don't need a book or a man with a suit and a liscense to tell us that stealing is bad. its common sense. So i am no longer intrested in the church, but i always love God.

btw i saw this video on youtube.. it was saying how religion is like a jug of milk.. basically you ask your "higher power" for something lets say u ask for 1000 dollars. "Jug of milk can i have $1000?" 3 things could happen. A- you get an answer right away and the next day u receive a check for 1000 from your bank for a mistake made.. B- You hear nothing at all then about 6 months later you get a random tax rebate check. C- You hear nothing at all.
for A the reply was "SEE I TOLD YOU THE JUG OF MILK WILL MAKE IT HAPPEN!"
for B- "SEE Sometimes the jug of milk takes its time but it will always come thru when we need it!!"
for C- "you should get your life together so the jug can take care of you. You must not be living right."
AS I SAID this all came from a youtube video i found not my point of view but a very interesting one. what you guys think? do you think Religions play off the fact that most people believe in something?
