AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

So I started this because I found the most amazing bra by Gilligan&Omalley at Target; serious underwire support but with this miracle fiber that you practically cannot feel. I can honestly say I have never been so crazy about a bra. I had comfortable ones before but they seriously lacked support. I've also had great support that felt like freakin torture all day long. I should buy 100 of these....

anyway, as i was typing I thought about other fantastically comfortable, yet functional/cute/fashion forward items that we may have come across. Post it here! It like a confesional for great looking&great FEELING clothes and shoes!

Target bras are seriously slept on. My comfortable bra came from one of their lines.. .don't know which one. I wear that thing all the time when I need to.

I found this tunic at a thrift store that feels like a blanket.
Yes target bras! Thank you!
Why are bras so expensive and what about a bra makes it comfortable or uncomfortable? Are bras neccessary for every woman or is this just a cultural affectation?

The support bras offer are needed if you don't like the pulling sensation or if you want to physically move in anyway. It's like trying to run with something strapped to your chest, underneath your skin pulling it down. Hard to explain but it's really uncomfortable.
Also if you're in a balance-heavy field of sports it can really mess that up. Or if you're an archer. They're just hindrances sometimes.

Underwire, too tight straps, too tight band and other things are uncomfortable, it's like wearing a corset or girdle sometimes.

Bras can be expensive if you're not the average sizes or if you want one that looks nice.
^^ what she said plus, about the expense - as someone who has spent most of my life in cheap bras i'm only now starting to feel that maybe they are one of things one shouldn't skimp on. But like anything else $$$ doesn't necessarily mean better, it's a really individual thing.
Xiamin--I am a fan of the VS bras I got recently on sale (i used to hate VS). They're demi-cup and got a tiny bit of padding on the bottom so my small ones don't just float around in the cup (lol)--which was a pretty annoying problem for me. But what I wear for comfort and when i don't even need to think about my boobs or be reminded of a bra when the straps slip = the simple American Apparel cross back bra that has no wire or cup or any frilly detailing and they're 100% cotton (durable, easy to wash, and repairable=long lasting). :D

Oh and another reason why some ppl choose to wear bras is if they don't want the world to be able to see every contour of their breast through the fabric of whatever they're wearing--or for an even more personal reason some ppl don't like the nips to chafe.
I love those simple little bras. Neighborhoodies and a lot of other places have their own versions. That's the bulk of my bras, right there. And the princess tamtam design from lalulu petite bras. I love bralettes because I'll never be able to wear a cup without tons of ugly padding.

Another reason to wear bras: Unwanted attention because of high beams.
When you say look nice what do you mean? Look nice to the wearer or look nice to whoever the wearer chooses to reveal the bra to, or has n effect to make the wearer look nice in what ever clothes she may be wearing? What matters most in a bra, comfort or "looking" nice? Do you require that your bras match your outfit or panties or is that immaterial to the choice? How much do you think is a reasonable price to pay for a bra? I assume women change them everyday, but they are willing to pay more for a bra than a pair of panties, right?

Kifaru: "What matters most in a bra, comfort or "looking" nice?" --- and all that matching stuff...

depends on the occasion, but if you've got the money you can do both sexiness and comfort. and usually if you're going to buy a frilly hot number you mind as well by the set (top and bottom + garter belt).

plus, at least for me, it's true that you feel different if you're wearing pretty underwear even if you're the only person who knows it. honestly the underwear thing is more for the lady imo and in my experience.
Comfort is most important day to day, looks for special occasions.

and second to the pretty undies=feel different.
Sexy underwear can change your outlook on the day, lol.
It's true, it does make you feel different when they're nice.
