oh. but there was that one black dude. he seemed pretty badass. almost made me want to pick up the books. Almost.
also, can someone please explain to me why nikki reed had to BLEACH HER SKIN for her role in this movie? i mean. . . really? Really??
There is no mention of any minorities other than Native Americans in the book. I'm almost certain this badass character was made just to balance out how much the book lacks any diversity. If there's any mention of a person of a different race it's indirect and the narrator, Bella, will say something like, "Their skin had a bit of an olive hint", which is what she said in the 4th book. Or once I recall her saying something about a woman with "dark features"....whatever the hell that is supposed to mean.
I'm not even surprised about the skin bleaching thing. The whole book makes white and pale seem like the most amazing thing ever. The character Nikki Reed plays is also supposed to be the most beautiful person in the whole series, according to Bella.
