AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

afropunk 2013

i can't possibly be the only one. what do you like to wear, where do you like to shop, what inspires you to get dressed in the morning? i am really interested! after all it isn't as shallow as people make it seem, it's still a form of art and expression.

i want these ones tho. *pout* experience w/ the brand makes me believe that these'll be comfortable and last longer than cheaper versions.

and another post=another reason to post a picture:

i like her hair. :]
^^^ I've been trying to prefect the side part/coils/booby pins thing for awhile now.....to no avail.

Man, I've got terrible taste . http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170505357082...
I definitely wouldn't wear those every day or at all but if I were part of a show of some kind and needed crazy attire I'd throw those on with a black and white horizontal stripped skin tight something and tell people I'm a drag queen. I've always wanted to be a drag queen. :(
when i went to school some girls would wear stuff like that. lol. really random, but why not. :P
I like to think I'm into fashion - but - I think it's more of a select style that I happen to wear unknowingly: skinny jeans and a shirt with a cartoon character/dude/dude carrying a slogan/weird old man/funny face. I didn't even notice it until my umpteenth pant/shirt purchase that featured the same thing. Oh and jackets! Lots and lots of jackets! Sweaters, too. I've got a fetish for funky jackets.

That said, I really appreciate this thread for the different viewpoints and styles of fashion. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of my wardrobe soon!
I will sacrifice comfort for style. Not to say I always look good; half the time I probably look insane but dressing is fun. It's fun going to a thrift store and seeing how much crap you can get for $8. I bought teal leather pants. When am I going to wear teal leather pants? Not sure but I have them, and when the mood strikes me I'll be prepared.

Me too! altho when I get called a man when i'm not trying it makes me sad :-[ lol
I'm still toying with the Idea of entering a drag king competition just for the hell of it.
Yep DRAG KING! i'd make a sexy man... lmao I'm so sad*

i love fall arriving. finally men can dress in clothes that look elegant and classy again. summer is a curse fashion-wise for me. the focus in this season definitely lies on the massive variation offered to women. shorts make any guy look like a boyscout.

Yup.

Remember guys... undershirts. a *nod* and a *palin wink* two the both of you.
Amen to that. You seen the dudes on streetetiquette.com? They really had it down how to look better as a guy in the summer months. Aint no reason for a dude or chick to look sloppy in the hot summer.
