... the other Black experience

So I just heard Wyclef is trying to run for President of Haiti.
However, he has to have a residency of at least 5 years in that country
to qualify. He was born in Haiti and raised in the States. Do you think he would make a good President? Do you think
they will make an exception? After all, he is the ambassador already.

We actually were talking about this at work today. I worked with a group of kids this summer and we studied Haitian political history as a jumping off point for post-media-coverage advocacy for Haiti. I really don't think that Wyclef should even consider running for President. Haiti has had a long history of political instability due to the class disparities, coups, lack of a real economy, (smaller) natural disasters and the detrimental foreign influences of both the United States and France... and THEN the earthquake hit. I feel like someone with more political experience could tackle the manmade/natural disasters that Haiti's been dealing with much better than Wyclef. (I've also heard from a couple of my co-workers that Wyclef actually opposed The Lavalas Movement http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fanmi_Lavalas and the democratically elected President Jean-Betrand Aristide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Bertrand_Aristide but I don't have any real sources to back that up :-/ )
