... the other Black experience

Is there a safe place for a Black Lesbian as myself to go to online to express being me. I'm so tired of getting attack on afterellen for speaking my mind for being black.  It's the readers and not the writers. It's like only white womyn are able to express themselves over there. Anybody else have had bad experiences over there? I just came back  to them like last year and I haven't been on in a long time due to school schedule.

Over the weekend, I corrected them on a date that Whitney Houston emerged in the 1980s and not the late 70s. The managing editor didn't check herself before posting and she does that a lot make mistakes. Anywayz I was attacked for that and the fact I corrected that Whitney's music is R&B not pop and informed one poster to enlightened her mind and check the history of black music about how it was orginally classified as soul and R&B and not pop, which was predominately refer to white singers and then music journalists labled black music as pop music, out of disrespect.

Any social websites to go to?

I've had bad experiences at afterellen to. Nothing but a bunch of racist, biphobic mofos who masquerade as accepting until someone challenges them on it. It's not really as social as it could be because the groups are kind of inactive, but autostraddle is a good website. 98% of the the community is respectful towards queer POC and will even jump on someone if they say something racist. The writers to.

And then there's tumblr-- it's like a queer black haven.

Sorry I don't have anything more specific. :(

Thanks for replying back.  AE can't control some of racist members on their site. I am sometimes appalled that the writers don't come to the rescue. It's sick. I believe a backlash is about to happen to them. If I had the time and effort, I would create my own website for Queer woc/poc.  I would.

I still have an account on there. Some of the favoritism of certain white celebs is downright pitiful. It's time to have our own spot. That's all I got to say about that.

Autostraddle is a nice place.  The stories that come out are awesome. I'm not 100% familiar with tumblr,is there a name of a group to go to.

Tumblr is a collection of posts exactly like twitter except that it's not microblogging. Each user has their own personal page and the main way it works is by blogging your own posts, pictures, videos, quotes, or links that are relevant to your interests. You can follow people and reblog their posts, which then show up on your dashboard and in your personal blog. There aren't groups (I think), but I follow a lot of queer blogs and have gotten to know women through discussion and shared interests. My favorites are:

  • ancestryinprogress.tumblr.com
  • queerbrownxx.tumblr.com
  • wocsurvivalkit.tumblr.com
  • elixherfix.tumblr.com
  • livingoutsidetheboxx.tumblr.com
  • thepeculiarkind.tumblr.com

There are so many blogs (literally thousands) dedicated to black, lesbian women, that if you choose to get into it, you'll quickly find a supporting community.

Since I have nothing but time on my hands, I'm thinking about creating a social space just for us though. We need it.

Thank you for replying back. I will check those sites out. For now, I still have an AE account there b/c I'm friends with someone who is special to me.  I hope to contribute voice on here soon when I get some major downtime.

That's too many social websites to explore on tumblr. I don't want to sign up to check out other groups. I'll pass.

You know what I came across a site called rainbow blak and I signed u.  It's a black Lesbian Bi group, but I'm not sure if they're an alternative black Lesbian website. Do you know any websites of that kind?
