AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

So if yall didnt know the new roots album is out! Its called How I got Over. I've heard a few tracks and they were pretty good.

The first single from the album is called Dear God 2.0 iIts a great song and I'm pretty sure the album is incredible too. Has anyone listened to all the tracks yet?

I need to keep up with all this. I'll check it, thanks
The album....hmmmmm
on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a generous 5. It sounds phoned in. 90% of the songs have the same structure, random hook singer, two verses. Most of the cuts were very lazy and mello. Not alot of grit or energy on this record. The last song Hustla has an interesting baby crying looped sample, which is the most interesting noise on the record. I hate John Legend with a passion so they lost major cool points for that. Lyrically not very cohesive, sounded like different mcs lyric books that got stolen on a high school field trip and peiced together. Black Thought is rhyming like a dad, you can hear him saying 'I can't say that in front of the kids.'

This is not an edgy record at all. It's background at best.

This is the whole album. Lyfenlyn is right they dont have a lot diversity, if any.
the album is amazing!!
Not feeling it at all, sorry Roots not up to par at all. With all the stupid overrings in the genre at the moment, you would think the album would be better. Here in the UK, the magazines and papers are loving it,4-5 stars, whole page coverage and top reviews. But The Roots get love regardless out here.

I'll try not to download a copy from my poptastic loving mate, who sighs at the sight of ?questlove
