... the other Black experience

Anyone have experience in producing internet shows?

If so, how do you keep your audience entertained? I've found that most internet shows tend to become boring really fast. You have one descent one hit wonder and the rest just fail to be just as good, yet now your audience has great expectations of you.

Post your clips, hints, tips, general guidelines, etc,
Let's see your work!

I'm trying to put together a "pilot" showcasing movies made by a particular company.

No more than five minutes long. If the pilot succeeds, each episode for the show would have a sketch and a review of whatever independent movie is about to be released for the month from this particular company.

I just finished the script. I have shoot, edit, and upload before 4/20.
(AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! DEADLINES!)

I'm new to screenwriting. My main area is actually in editing, but in order to edit something it has to be made first. I wasn't getting any completed projects tossed my way so I have to make my own.

I'm new to the world of internet shows, but only as a viewer, I fear. I will say that based on what I've WATCHED, keeping your episodes short, leaving on a "cliffhanger" and aiming more for continuity from episode to episode rather than a spanking new plot works for me! There's a show called "The Guild" about a group of players of an online game who decide to meet and interact dysfunctionally in real life.

Since you're doing a sketch and review of different movies each time, have you thought of creating a set of characters that will always be recognizable even though some of the content they cover is different? Like the premise is there are these friends who are actors/waiters and they rehearse scenes from movies they'd love to star in and then the scene dissolves and its always some cranky customer or boss or their cat pissing on the rug bringing them back from a daydream. Something like that? Over time you could have them actually progress in their careers and get actual roles and deal with sneaky agents and the problems of the unreal world. Any takers?
Yeah. I have two characters that will always be present in every episode.

What you came up with is a killer idea! It does not quite fit into what my show is about only because of the nature of the films from the independent company, but it does fit into something else one of my friends is working on.

The idea to always end with a cliffhanger is something that I didn't think about before!

Thank you for replying as any input greatly helps.
There's a show called Gemini Division...starring Rosario Dawson. For a show that's under six minutes, it's pretty hot. It's a very good show. I've seen most of the episodes, but have slacked off as of lately(There's a new episode, or suppose to be....Every week.). I would also say that a show, where the episodes are short and concise...Yet a lot of stuff happens in that time span, and each episode ends with a cliff hanger, is a good way to go. In fact....When I buy a new camera(Since I have like a hundred ideas, i've only partly committed to paper)...I might just start trying to make a few webisodes;).
This doesn't relate directly, but has anyone checked www.scriptgirl.net ?

It's a comedic net show I've caught on Youtube. Some toilet humor and not very feminist-friendly, but it has great weekly reports about the sales and development deals for Hollywood scripts. It serves as a humorous inspiration for to keep going and I fully agree with the shows adage "If you don't write it, you can't sell it".
