... the other Black experience

What up, folk. I just moved to the city about three weeks ago from California. I wanted to now AP has a strong following in this area or has any events planned. It's good to be in Chicago.

Well, some may say different, but the AP scene in Chi is pale shadow of its former self. If it exist at all for all for all intents and purposes.... We used to have several bands: CottonSeed, Bushoong, Illaziam, Small Change, & Da Haterz to which all but the 1st 2 have disbanded.... They/we press on despite the fact that the only Chi AP folk we encounter the @ our shows is Tigi & Steve...

It was a lot more vibrant back in the days of the Black Boards.... I dont know what happened but folk just dont come out anymore... I still see my ppl from the Black Boards, JC, Chandra, Politic, Ed(Illiaziam), Todd(Small Change)... And am still in contact with our President Emeritus (j/k) Calvin Chaos (Da Haterz) & Fast Eddy!!!  Im not sure if Vinnie(CottonSeed) was on the Black Boards because I've known him for so long.

That being said. There is sometimes some really cool stuff happening in the Chi... Hope you enjoy your stay!

Yeah, I'm always down to hang out and meet up when stuff is going on...and Kemet is right; seems like we used to get together more in the past...but all that can certainly be changed! I usually need a little motivation and impetus for getting out sometimes, but nonetheless it would really be great to meet you and re-commune with the ones I know (ahem Chaos and Freddy)...
Well it's good to know that people are still willing to hang out. It's too bad I couldn't be out here when hang out were a normal thing. Either way I got tickets for a show at Schuba's this Saturday. Obviously short notice but if any one can make it you're invited. It's a hip hop show for Blue Scholars with Bambu. I've seen Bambu in Cali so I can say it should be a good show. $12 and 18+

Well Kemet and I will have to be absent at the Schuba's function. We're playing a show @ Silvie's Lounge this saturday. Me Cottonseed, him Bushoong. Then another @ Morseland Theater Nov. 18th. And yes the scene is like Kate Moss on an even more strict diet. It's to the point where I don't even bother posting flyers. I think Kemet is with me on that one. I'd like to get out to more shows myself but I have to be up at 3:30 am errry moanin'. So my weekday excursions are extremely limited. Then we rehaerse on fridays and saturdays. This is all to keep myself coherent so I don't hit the wrong button and am able to remember what chords to hit when we play a show.

Cottonseed is just two people and modern technology (a laptop). So we spend as much time as we have getting that circus together. Computers can be such fussy bitches.

Enough of that stuff. WELCOME TO CHICAGO , MAKE YR'SELF COMFORTABLE.

Well keep me posted on shows. I'm sure I can make it out to one

Are there some good spots for shows in Chicago? Coming from Indianapolis and try to see what groups are playing.
