Information

BLACK NOISE

For heads who like lo-fi, noisy, underground hardcore, post-hardcore, noiserock, screamo, etc. Bands like Yaphet Kotto, Acts of Sedition, Swing Kids, Bikini Kill, Heroin, City of Caterpillar, Huggy Bear, etc. That really raw wall of sound shit.

My hundred percent favorite band is Oxbow -- melange of twisted, neck-wrung guitar licks, pounded like by a gorilla drum crashes, a skulking bassline and vocals and lyrics slobbered and bawled out indecipherably but all the worse for your sense of self-improvement when they DO start to make sense! And seeing All Leather was one of the 9 minutes of sweat I've contributed to in public, while being bruised, for free?

OK ...I FEEL U. ZINES ARE A WONDERFUL FORMAT FOR NEW BANDS AND UNIQUE STYLES...BUT THEY ARE ALOT OF WORK. IN 96 I HELPED A ROCK ZINE BASED IN FORT WASHINGTON, MARYLAND ...AND I SAW ALL THE EFFORT THAT WAS INVOLVED. MY HAT IS OFF TO THOSE THAT MAKE IT LAST. IT'S NOT EASY.
