... the other Black experience

so what new noise-rock and hardcore bands are people listening to?

I've been checking otu a lot of new hardcore bands. Right now Cult Ritual, Failures, Salvation, Lotus Fucker, Pgymy shrews are killing it out there.

Another band that I saw recently was Gay Beast. They are really post-proggy stuff with a lot of energy and weird time changes. Definitely skewed post-punk

Sir those bands you listed were very cool. Sometimes I think the east coast is light years ahead of the south when it comes to hardcore, I know for sure the south is behind when it comes down to the west coast and for post hardcore, defitnely the mid-west. Ok so what I will list may verge into thrash, powerviolence, grind, ect. but I promise they are all really good:

punch

hi grindcore!

my band's first show will be with the nationale! funny

i like punch, they're kinda cool. total abuse, i don't know, they give me a bad vibe. all the fake "abuse" is jsut too much.. it's cool that you like noisy hardcore though! very hard to find brothers and sisters who dig this genre these days. there was a couple black kids at the recent Sex/Vid, Failures show, but i didn't talk to th em of course.. *sigh*

and thanks for turning me on to sunken teeth, sounds gnarled up

Well, how much this would be classed as Black Noise in the context of this discussion we are having, i don't know, but if this Wicked Witch album i keep on raving about ain't Black noise, then i don't know what is. Also, it's not exactly new (it was recorded between 1978 and 1983), but it's still mindblowing as heck.

Interesting stuff.
There's this sick band from the Bay Area called Death Sentence: Panda! Three members, female vox, their setup is drums, flute, theremin, and an oboe. When I saw them set up, I thought, "this is going to be awful or fucking awesome!" Thankfully it was the latter, for sure. The oboe player puts a mic into the bell of the oboe and distorts the sound like crazy, so it sounds like a bassy guitar. Post-punk, post-rock. They have one not-so-great song on their myspace, but you get the idea:

If you're interested, let me know, I can email you their mp3s.
