Do you have one? Do you change it often? I'm considering one, but I'm not sure how to put it together.

I've had an altar for the last few years (finally, after not having one for most of my life). I don't really "change" more than I add to it; it's grown from being nothing more than an altar tile, a statue, and an incense burner. Now, it's beyond that and still evolving: artwork, jewelry, beads, gemstones, pillar candles, statues.

Ultimately, there's no set way to put together an altar. It should be personal to YOU, since it's YOUR space that YOU will be using. Do you pay homage/respect to a deity?

I don't have an altar, too little space. I do keep knick knacks and stuff in my Witchcraft bag - which is a bookbag that holds all my stuff.
Nope, it's from living in a parental house where I can't express my religion but I should unpack it, I've moved now.

I heard of just about everything to do with tarot cards, right down to a woman using them to decide the color of her dress. I don't carry them around if I don't have to do some reading because to me, they're a really heavy stack of paperweight.

I change my altar.  It's more  on the visualization side.  A candle is in the center of it.  I lost a lot of my statues.  I really hadn't the time to search for a specific God/Goddess statues to replace the lost ones.  I will set up one during a full moon or new moon invoke needed energy into certain time frame or energy exchange.

My alter is kinda personal ish. i like to think of it as both a place of worship and kinda like well you know how when you were a kid and you wanted to show your mom something pretty or interesting you found? :) my Patron is Bast so I try to put alto of things she and i both appreciate or things i thought shed like to play with if she was bored or stuff she can mess around with. lots of fake silk flowers so they don't have to wilt. and i kind of like to share things my boyfriend gave me or things that have good deep memories and positive feelings on there too. :) having a place where ive got a concentrated amount of pure feel good energy feels like the prime place to have her there as well as any sort of workings i may or may not do in the future.

As for the thing with the Tarot cards. i don't think it takes away from power. its kind of like you know when you've got an epic pair of boots and you use them all the time and someone else decides to use them and to them they feel funny. its you getting connected with what you use on a daily basis. if anything it should improve her ability to read them raw out of pure memory and feelings.

Mine too! I have altars to both Sekhmet and Hathor (my fiancee has one to Thoth). :) I painted a lot of items and put them on my altar; I put a lot of my own personal jewelry on there also, silk flowers so they won't wilt (haha ;) ). My altar is the best feeling spot in the house! At least to me it is! :D
