Do you have one? Do you change it often? I'm considering one, but I'm not sure how to put it together.

I don't really "change" more than I add to it; it's grown from being nothing more than an altar tile, a statue, and an incense burner. Now, it's beyond that and still evolving: artwork, jewelry, beads, gemstones, pillar candles, statues.
Ultimately, there's no set way to put together an altar. It should be personal to YOU, since it's YOUR space that YOU will be using. Do you pay homage/respect to a deity?
Permalink Reply by Lunakiss on November 27, 2011 at 12:35pm I change my altar. It's more on the visualization side. A candle is in the center of it. I lost a lot of my statues. I really hadn't the time to search for a specific God/Goddess statues to replace the lost ones. I will set up one during a full moon or new moon invoke needed energy into certain time frame or energy exchange.

As for the thing with the Tarot cards. i don't think it takes away from power. its kind of like you know when you've got an epic pair of boots and you use them all the time and someone else decides to use them and to them they feel funny. its you getting connected with what you use on a daily basis. if anything it should improve her ability to read them raw out of pure memory and feelings.
Permalink Reply by Lady Mika on November 28, 2011 at 11:55am Mine too! I have altars to both Sekhmet and Hathor (my fiancee has one to Thoth). :) I painted a lot of items and put them on my altar; I put a lot of my own personal jewelry on there also, silk flowers so they won't wilt (haha ;) ). My altar is the best feeling spot in the house! At least to me it is! :D
