Comment by Agape Love Jones on June 10, 2013 at 12:16pm So I am on a personal mission to bring the Afro-Punk movement to the DMV. But in order to do that, I need to know if anyone in this group is still active, or if a new group needs to be made. Somebody and anybody respond as you will if you're interested in helping me

Washington, DC’s newest nightlife venue, Tropicalia will host Sierra Leone-born musician,Sorie Kondi. Born blind, this musical prodigy, sings about his personal journey in 4 languages (Loko, his mother tongue, Temne, Krio, and English) while performing with electrified self-crafted instruments that create his well-known distorted bluesy sound.
The start of Kondi’s first US tour was originally scheduled for March at his debut performance at SXSW (South by Southwest). However, his visa to the United States was not granted until recently, after a long and expensive process. DC will be Kondi’s first stop on his 5-city US tour.
After Kondi’s performance, join NYC and DC based DJs Chief Boima (Dutty Artz NYC/Africa is a Country/Ghetto Bassquake), Underdog (Afrobeat 4 Ya Soul, OkayAfrica), and Mothershiester (Anthology of Booty/SWENKA) as they provide a Pan-African music explosion of Afro-pop and electronic beats to move in our global dancehall!
