I've been vegetarian for a while now, and I've been thinking about becoming vegan. The ironic thing (I think) is now it's better for me to become vegan because of my stomach lining. It motivates me so much more to do the vegan thing, when dairy makes me throw up and have stomach pains :P

I'm looking for a vegetarian/vegan chef to demonstrate several easy, low-cost meals to a group of interested folk here in L.A in the month of June....If you are or know someone who wants to help encourage and promote healthy eating in urban communities, have 'em holla at me....hethatisQ@gmail.com

@Electric Lady

thanks for the good points! I'll have to do some research on the markets around my area. :)

Just decided yesterday to go veg. Got mad thoughts swimming around, but I've found a lot of online support. Can't support the killing anymore, though its easy to seperate because I don't see it happen. Lot of other reasons why this benifits more than me...

I wouldn't start by eating a RAW diet, because that might be a drastic lifestyle change that you may not be able to sustain over time. I would start by eating local/organic foods. Hit up the farmers market ASAP. Eating local/organic foods has a lot of benefits. I know when I started focusing on local and organic foods i felt better, the foods taste better, the food last longer, you're taking the microbiology of the surrounding environment (which helps to combat seasonal allergies), it generally has a lower impact on the environment (fewer miles from farm to plate), and you would be supporting a local small business. Because the food is so good (and usually cheaper than grocery store organics) you will start eating more fruits and vegetables, which can be a good transition to a RAW, vegetarian, or vegan diet.

I was considering going RAW because of the promise of energy and "feel-goodness" :) But, I'm wondering, while I'm not a vegetarian, yet, is going RAW the first step I should take, or should it be the second step, say after enjoying a veg lifestyle. Opinions?
